BZPB: Resurgence is a text-based role-playing game and the first major relaunch of BZPB in five years, following BZPB: Unending in 2016. It is set in the Reborn Universe an indeterminate amount of time after BZPB Reborn (which was eventually established to be seven years). The story primarily focuses on the attempts of Sefer Yetzirah to forcibly unify the galaxy under her New Order and the attempts of the Free Systems Alliance to resist them.

Setting[edit | edit source]

Following the events of BZPB Reborn, a war breaks out between the Tanari Confederation and the Takemikazuchi Empire which the Takemikazuchi eventually win. Building on the success of her victory, Sefer Yetzirah forms the New Order - a collectivist, totalitarian regime intent on nothing less than total galactic domination. The future Sefer envisages for the galaxy is free of pain, war, or suffering - but also of individuality, free will, or free thought.

Whilst the Galactic Government itself collapses when presented with the threat of the New Order and its vast armies, those worlds and systems which value their freedom and independence form an uneasy alliance with one another; under the moniker of the 'Free Systems Alliance', even former enemies find themselves fighting alongside each other against a common foe. However, rumors surface that Sefer herself has retreated to Bendu, engrossed in a secret project that may determine the very fate of the galaxy itself while her generals, known as Arcs, run the war in her stead.

Meanwhile, the enigmatic entity known as Blackout and the cryptic clone known as The Raven, each leading factions of their own, manipulate both sides of the conflict for their own mysterious ends.

But now that The Shattering has ravaged the galaxy, how will each side react? And who will emerge from the ashes to lead the galaxy for the next thousand years?
