The Preservers are a group or race of beings who are in charge of affairs in the Knowledge Dimension.

History[edit | edit source]

The Instructor once stated that, "despite the vigilance displayed by the Preservers, Archivists, Librarians, and Chousin", the BZPB Multiverse was becoming endangered by the fact that the energies of Akasha were running thin.[1]

In response to the increasing awareness of the Knowledge Dimension among the inhabitants of the Prime Dimensions and their subsequent attempts to access it, the Preservers established the Canonical Directive: a new mandate that declared that any information that was henceforth stolen from the Knowledge Dimension would be tracked down and extracted from the minds of whoever stole it, and that, if the stolen information had been used to make changes to any other reality or universe, those changes would be reverted by one of the Knowledge Dimension's to-be-appointed "canon agents" through careful, responsible manipulation of time.[1]

Previously, the Preservers had allowed the Chousin to borrow information from the Knowledge Dimension to aid them in their duties, but due to the Chousin's increasing interactions with prime-dimensional beings such as Quolas during The Mazkertis Paradox arc, the Preservers decided that the Chousin had become a potential security risk and rescinded their access, forcibly returning Tsunami and Washu to the Hyperdimension. Tsunami did not seem to think that the Preservers were planning to send canon agents after the Chousin to wipe their memories like they intended to do to prime-dimensional beings, but she stated "if they tried, we would have some serious objections".[1]

On Day 76, Tsunami informed Quolas of the existence of the Preservers and the fact that the Chousin had been banned from the Knowledge Dimension in order to explain why she would not be able to provide him with definitive information about the future, instead having to rely on her own powers to decipher the degrading and increasingly unreliable future timeline of the Original Universe.[1]

Under the direction of the Preservers, the canon agent Sefer Yetzirah eventually completed thousands of canon clean-up missions. On many of them, she observed that canon leaks and hyperdimensional tunnels were continuing to occur at an unprecedented rate even after the Preservers had increased the Knowledge Dimension's security tenfold, almost like someone or something incredibly powerful was punching holes in reality on purpose so more and more information would leak out of the Knowledge Dimension. Whenever Sefer raised her concerns to the Preservers, they ordered her to focus on her individual assignments as a canon agent instead, leaving her without an answer.[2]
