BlackZarak (formerly Zarak) was a ZFT commander who participated in the Battle of Omega Supreme.

History[edit | edit source]

The Indeterminate Past[edit | edit source]

Before he joined the ZFT, BlackZarak was named Zarak, and was known in both ZFT and non-ZFT circles as a man of some reputation. Zarak seemingly met his demise when the Silicons vacuum-bombed his ship, leaving so little behind that the remains could not even "fill a thimble", but he survived and returned under the alias "BlackZarak". As BlackZarak, he decided to join the ZFT.[2]

ZFT Career[edit | edit source]

In 150,082 CMT, BlackZarak entered Deathsaurus's base only to find that he had missed Deathsaurus and his crew by mere minutes. He sipped tea while waiting for them to come back,[3] though he eventually decided that he would return later and teleported away.[4] He entered Blackout's office to report that the pirates were not there, which led Blackout to decide that the ZFT would proceed with their plans without them. Blackout then tasked BlackZarak with leading a strike force to the Omega system, because there was something there he wanted to acquire. Once BlackZarak had left the office,[5] Blackout told the newly-resurrected Starscream that he would be accompanying BlackZarak to the Omega system. Starscream was shocked that BlackZarak had joined Blackout, which prompted Blackout to smugly tell Starscream that many things had changed in his absence.[6]

Aboard a Primus-class ship, BlackZarak spearheaded a ZFT fleet as it travelled to the Omega system through hyperspace. En route, BlackZarak informed Starscream that their objective would be to locate something that Blackout wanted in the system.[7] Upon arriving in the system, BlackZarak's armada took up positions in the orbit of a moon and awaited further instructions.[8]

The Battle of Omega Supreme[edit | edit source]

When the Ironclad arrived in the system carrying Makuta Ynot and Zev Raregroove,[9] BlackZarak sent them a holographic transmission of himself to warn them to leave the area because it had fallen under ZFT jurisdiction. Upon closing the transmission, BlackZarak was informed by Starscream that Ynot and Zev were no mere trespassers, but were two of Blackout's greatest enemies. Shocked, BlackZarak immediately ordered all ZFT ships in the area to open fire on the Ironclad.[10] After the Ironclad responded by hitting BlackZarak's ship with a BFG blast,[11] BlackZarak ordered the deployment of all ZFT fighter ships that were currently docked.[12] As the In Amber-Clad arrived to provide support to the Ironclad,[13] BlackZarak watched the battle unfold on a viewscreen, concerned that it was not going as smoothly as he had hoped.[14] BlackZarak's concerns were deepened when a fleet from Malchior IV arrived, intent on stopping Blackout from recovering the treasure he sought in the Omega system.[15] Upon seeing that Aster was among the Malchiorian forces, BlackZarak transmitted a hologram of himself to her X-Wing.[2]

Aster was shocked to see that BlackZarak had survived the Silicons' vacuum-bombing of his ship; when asked for an explanation how, BlackZarak replied "Well, you survived. Why couldn't I?". Aster angrily closed the communication and set a course for BlackZarak's ship, enlisting Trantoshen to help her in her attempt to take it down.[2] Although BlackZarak ordered the ship's crew to prevent them from boarding, Aster and Trantoshen were able to blast their way into the hangar bay[16] and eliminate the enemy forces inside. The two heroes then ran into a corridor[17] and got into a fight with some Decepticon guards[18] that culminated in Trantoshen firing a blast of energy at the corridor ceiling that buried the Decepticons in debris.[19] Although Aster was annoyed because this also blocked off the fastest way to the bridge, BlackZarak announced that it did not matter because he had come to them instead, blasting them both into the wall with lightning while brandishing a red spear.[1] He then fired another lightning bolt at Aster, but she dodged it and fired a shard of ice at him that grazed his shoulder and distracted him long enough for Aster to get close enough to slash into his chest.[20] Before BlackZarak could retaliate, Ynot had Aster and Trantoshen teleported onto the Ironclad so that he could be free to destroy BlackZarak's ship.[21]

At Blackout's behest, BlackZarak's ship then landed on the surface of Omega Supreme.[21] Shortly afterwards, Omega Supreme transformed into a colossal robot, revealing that the treasure that Blackout had been searching for was Omega Supreme itself, a superweapon left over from the Uterio War that Blackout wanted to possess for his own goals.[22] Meanwhile, Aster, having been dumped onto a Malchiorian frigate, decided that she would go to Omega Supreme to finish her fight with BlackZarak.[23] She climbed into another X-Wing[24] that she then flew out of the hangar.[25] Aster parked her X-Wing next to BlackZarak's ship on the surface of Omega Supreme and exited the fighter, daring him to show himself.[26] Just as Rainn appeared behind her to ask where BlackZarak was,[27] BlackZarak knocked Rainn to the ground with a blast of fire.[28] BlackZarak thrust his spear towards Rainn, but Aster shot the weapon out of his hand before it could meet its target,[29] giving Rainn the opportunity to kick him in the face.[30] BlackZarak then fired lightning at Rainn until Aster jump-kicked him, diverting the lightning away.[31]

While BlackZarak was distracted, Rainn ran into his own X-Wing and took off, planning to use the ship's firepower against BlackZarak.[32] After Aster slashed BlackZarak across the chest and kicked him in the head,[33] Rainn swooped down towards them in his X-Wing,[34] forcing them both to run in order to avoid its path.[35] BlackZarak tried to seize the opportunity to teleport away, but was prevented from doing so by Aster, who interrupted the teleportation by shooting him. Upon seeing Jortenn Karzdus float down towards her from the remains of his own crashed X-Wing, Aster grabbed him and teleported them both into Rainn's ship.[36] However, BlackZarak, wishing to continue the fight, climbed onto the nose of the X-Wing and began to fire lightning at them.[37] Rainn spun the ship around to throw him off,[38] eventually causing BlackZarak to fall from the X-Wing far below onto the surface of Omega Supreme. Although he just barely survived the fall, BlackZarak found himself in the targeting zone of one of Omega Supreme's turrets, and was promptly incinerated by a blast from its laser.[39]
