Zae Kronac is a Terugan sniper and the sister of the late Vok.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Zae's Terugan nature gives her a natural immunity to solar and cosmic radiation, provided that she is not exposed to it for extended periods of time. Her robotic eye also allows her to see in heat vision and x-ray vision. Most of the memories of her adult life have been overwritten by the computer she was connected to, causing her to act like a child. Despite this, she retains most of the memories of her murders, and is therefore a bit traumatised.

History[edit | edit source]

The Assassin[edit | edit source]

When Vok came into power, he manipulated Zae to use her sniping skills to eliminate the enemies of his regime. During this time, she was telepathically linked to a targeting computer which would show her who to kill and in some circumstances, pull the trigger for her if she hesitated or was unwilling. One such example is when she fired upon TPK's Rahkshi during the Uterio War, saving Wyn's life in the process. However, many years of being connected to this system had a debilitating effect on her mind. When the ZFT took over Teruga Prime, the computer Zae was connected to fell into the hands of the ZFT, and they reprogrammed it to make Zae hunt down Terugans who would rebel against them. One day Zae decided that enough was enough, and she would not be made to kill any more of her people, so she stabbed herself in the eye. Despite this, she survived, and the ZFT gave her a new robotic eye with the added abilities of heat and x-ray vision. Any future attempt to kill herself was stopped by an upgrade to the computer's systems, but she was still able to blindfold herself so that nobody would ever see her eye, especially not her.

Encounter with the Dong Squad[edit | edit source]

A few months later, Vok invited her to Ipomal's prison to play cards with him, in order to determine how much of her previous knowledge had been overridden by the computer. Just after she sat down, the doors swung open and Yon's Dong Squad charged in. A battle broke out, during which Zae fired upon Pumkin, but Pumkin slapped her into the wall with great force and knocked her unconscious. When she woke up, the Spire of Conquest was collapsing in on itself, and the ground gave way beneath her. She fell into an underground cavern, breaking her arm but otherwise saved from being crushed by the debris up above. She came to realize that she was no longer receiving commands, so the computer must have been destroyed along with the Spire. She made a promise to herself to leave the planet and never return. She eventually found an unused ladder to the surface, which she climbed up and made her escape.

Escape from Teruga Prime[edit | edit source]

Emerging from a hatch in the radioactive wastelands on Teruga Prime's surface, she wandered for weeks until she saw Dan, Kek and Lel walk down the same road. She followed them without their knowledge to a spaceship owned by the Red Cross, and when they commandeered the ship, she sneaked on board. She arrived with them on Atuar Sadiares and stumbled into a shop owned by Nikolai and Amy, and tried to talk to Ray Vice about her experiences in broken English. Playing the good Samaritan, Ray offered her a ride in his ship. She accepted, and they left the shop together. However, when they arrived at his ship, DU Monarch appeared and teleported her to the UG.
