In the Shattered Mirror Universe, Destral was the island headquarters of the Brotherhood of Makuta.

History[edit | edit source]

Disputed Territory[edit | edit source]

When Kakamu disappeared into an object known as the Shattered Mirror, Ynot had the object brought to Destral so that he could study it further. There, he discovered that it had taken Kakamu to another universe.[1]

The disappearance of Kakamu created a power vacuum in the Brotherhood of Makuta that was temporarily filled by Ynot, his second-in-command. However, Ynot soon left Destral to begin conquering the other islands of the Matoran Universe,[1] which gave Trantoshen, Kakamu's adopted son, a window of opportunity to take over the Brotherhood himself. To this end, SM Trantoshen sent his minions through the Shattered Mirror to capture the Original Universe's Trantoshen, who SMT tried to sway to his cause by telling him that SMY had a superweapon on Destral that would enable SMY to conquer the universe, but in reality, this was a trick to get OU Trantoshen to help him in his ultimately successful attempt to take over Destral.[2] Word that SMT had taken over Destral soon reached SMY and SM Sasuken, who immediately began to journey back.[3] OU Trantoshen attacked SMT when he discovered that he had lied to him, but their duel was interrupted when SMY and SM Sasuken arrived on Destral with an invasion force to take back the island.[2]

In the battle that followed, SMT deployed armies of Bohrok and Visorak-Rahkshi hybrids against the invaders, but he was unable to prevent SMY from breaking into the fortress and attacking him in person. When SMT was dragged into the path of a rampaging Tahtorak, he attempted to use his Kanohi Komau to force the Tahtorak to attack a Zivon, but was crushed in the process. After SMT was recovered by Spiriah, he was approached by three people from the Eternal Universe named Breakout, Blockade and Brawler, who accused SMT of violating the "Universe-Travelling Restriction Act 1999". The three cross-dimensional travellers then threw SMT into a portal and disappeared,[2] allowing SMY to claim victory. After the battle, SMY ordered SM Sasuken to help out in the cleanup by teleporting a Tahtorak off the island.[3]

Memories of Destral[edit | edit source]

In 150,081 CMT, OU Trantoshen (who was under the influence of a YOURMUM parasite at the time) claimed that SM Kakamu had used a Kanohi Olmak that the Brotherhood had kept on Destral to break down the barriers between universes, which was what had enabled him and his army to enter the Original Universe. However, it is unclear whether this actually happened or whether this was something that was just made up by the parasite, which were known to scramble their hosts' memories in order to confuse them.[4]

References[edit | edit source]

  1. 1.0 1.1 Ynot (SMU) (revision on 15:53, Feb 21, 2012): "One day, Kakamu was gone. As it turned out, he had passed through something known as "The Shattered Mirror", which had been found deep inside the Metru Nui Archives. Wishing to study it further, [SM Ynot] brought it to Destral, where he discovered that it had taken him to another world. He was only able to open it for short intervals, not nearly long enough to pass through, but he was able to discover many things about the universe it led to. [...] Ynot saw this as an opportunity to take power for himself and succeeded, his first acts being to launch the Shattered Mirror in the general direction of the black hole which had ripped apart the planet Chenrotoss and rallying the Brotherhood's armies. He was seen attacking Xia when Starscream arrived. The OoMN member was fried by Sasuken, giving Ynot the chance to kill The Enlightened One and use Shadow Leeches to turn his "Light Hunters" into the Dark Hunters. He then took over Daxia."
  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 Trantoshen (SMU) (revision on 11:25, Dec 19, 2011): "[SM Trantoshen's] minions captured the normal reality Trantoshen and brought him to him, supposedly to stop SM Ynot from conquering the universe with a new superweapon. However, this was a trick to get Trantoshen to help him in his successful attempt to take over Destral. The two Trantoshens began fighting each other, but this fight was forgotten when SMY's forces attacked. Despite SMT's armies of Bohrok and Visorak/Rahkshi hybrids, SMY still managed to break into the fortress and attack Trantoshen. SMT then ended up being dragged into the path of a raging Tahtorak. He used a Komau to force the Tahtorak to attack a Zivon, but was crushed in the process and recovered by Spiriah. Afterwards, SMT sat up and thanked Spiriah, but then something quite random happened: three people called Breakout, Barrack and Brawler from the Eternal Universe appeared and found Trantoshen to be in violation of something called the Universe-Travelling Restriction Act 1999, threw him in a portal, and disappeared."
  3. 3.0 3.1 Sasuken (SMU) (revision on 19:39, Dec 21, 2011): "After that battle was over, Sasuken pointed out how creepy Ynot's mind slaves were, and then was told that they needed to go to Destral, which had just been taken over by Trantoshen. Once there, he pointed out some obvious things and offered to track down SMT. He then joined Ynot in his siege of Destral. After the battle was over, Ynot ordered Sasuken to help out in the cleanup by teleporting a Tahtorak off the island."
