"He ever got a name?"
"I never bothered with one, I don't think Caiaphus ever did either. He doesn't speak our language, but since mind reading is a wonderful technique...

Rahn and Akzer discuss the gelatinous apprentice[1]

An unidentified gelatinous apprentice, sometimes referred to as just "the blob", was a mysterious Apprentice of Caiaphus.

History[edit | edit source]

Apprentice of Caiaphus[edit | edit source]

While Blackout was occupied with the Battle of the Virtual Reality, this unnamed Apprentice of Caiaphus infiltrated Darkmount alongside Akzer. After Klak escaped from the virtual reality and began wandering the ship, he encountered the gelatinous apprentice, Akzer, and Muta, the latter of whom had also escaped from the virtual reality, and decided to join forces with them to sabotage Darkmount from within. The four warriors killed several Rahkshi on their journey through the ship, but their crusade was interrupted when Caiaphus summoned the Apprentices to his side. There, Caiaphus tested Klak by asking him to determine which members of their posse were allies and which one among them was a traitor. The traitor was revealed as Akzer[2] when it was discovered that Akzer had had one of his comrades kill the gelatinous apprentice.[3]

Tournament of the Dead[edit | edit source]

In 150,080 CMT, this gelatinous being was one of the many dead characters who were resurrected by the Composer in the Underground to participate in the Tournament of the Dead,[4] appearing alongside many other former Apprentices of Caiaphus who had previously died. The gelatinous being then approached the Happy Person and The Guy Who Was Engulfed In Milk with his allies when Akzer asked the humans for an explanation.[5] When the Composer informed the crowd of the deceased that they would need to form Pacts by sorting themselves into pairs in order to participate in the tournament because those who did not would be returned to death, the gelatinous being quickly found a partner, and thus received a Pin that contained his life force and physical strength.[6]

Eventually, the tournament degenerated into a chaotic free-for-all with each of the Apprentices trying to steal as many Pins as possible in the hope that one of them could eventually become strong enough to escape. When the gelatinous being attacked Akzer in a form resembling Poseidon, Akzer laughed upon seeing the gelatinous being again and responded by charging at him.[3] However, Akzer reconsidered mid-charge and convinced the gelatinous being to cease his assault, partly because he was the only one among them who had anything that could be considered a power (shapeshifting). After Tidal Wave's soul was consumed by Raziel, who had been lured to the UG by the large amount of souls there,[1] the gelatinous being tackled Raziel with Rahn while Akzer and Tulio punched him,[7] which forced the wraith to flee.[8]

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Shapeshifting: This being's gelatinous composition granted it the ability to transform into the shape of other beings, such as Poseidon from Greek mythology.[3]

Klak (OU) (revision on 23:01, Nov 11, 2009): "Klak and an old enemy named Sephiroth ended up in a virtual reality created by Blackout [...] Klak eventually escaped after getting beat up by a computer. He wandered the ship until he found Akzer, gelatinous being called the blob, and Muta, joining them to take down Blackout's ship. However, they could only kill a few Rahkshi before Caiaphus called them to his side. Here, he went under a test: find his allies and a traitor from the group. Klak soon discovered that Akzer was the traitor when he killed the blob, and maimed the Pirate Lord."
