Ogres were a sentient species of tough green-skinned humanoids native to the Original Universe and Dark Mirror Universe.
Known members[edit | edit source]
- The Business Ogre[1]
- Shrek[2]
- Fiona[3]
- Several ogres who were killed by the Counter-Actor[4]
- Punished Shrek (deceased)[5]
Description[edit | edit source]
Ogres typically possessed the features that most humanoid species had; e.g. one head, two arms, and two legs, but with several key differences: ogres had thick, green-shaded skin and two long tube-like ears that pointed directly outwards in a straight line from their roots on the head. Some ogres, such as the Business Ogre, also possessed a pair of tusks and horns.[1] Ogres were significantly taller than humans, with the average ogre towering over the average human by several feet, and typically possessed much greater durability and stamina. While some of this was owed to their thick, hide-like skin, their innards were also highly resistant to damage, as was seen when Shrek once fearlessly swallowed a bomb so that he could let it explode safely inside his stomach and expel the excess energy as wind.[6] However, ogres did not have the same resistance to bullets (as seen again with Shrek).[7]
While there were no significant differences in intelligence levels in ogres compared to other sentient species, many ogres had little regard for personal hygiene or fashion, finding it preferable to live in filthy environments such as swamps. In relation, the onion was seen as a symbol of ogre culture, with ogres often using weapons and materials that were derived from or otherwise resembled onions, such as onionades[8] and onionium.[5]
History[edit | edit source]
At some point, Misaki Raregroove attacked a gigantic fortress occupied by a group of ogres and caused so much damage to the building that it took the ogres eight months to repair it.[1]
In 150,080 CMT, Misaki returned to the same fortress with a vengeance and Ryoko and Washu Hakubi in tow when she heard a rumor that the same ogres might be plotting against Zev. Upon seeing Misaki approach the front gate, one of the guards decided to flee in a car, only to be told by his partner that they had not been able to afford to replace the car that was destroyed during Misaki's last visit. Misaki then destroyed the front gate with her bare hands and rampaged through the ground floor before leaping up to the office of the Business Ogre, where she demanded to be told who was planning on hurting her "baby boy". Although Misaki subsequently achieved her goal by throwing the Business Ogre to the ground,[1] her rage intensified rather than subsided because the Architect was then stabbed by Blackout elsewhere in the multiverse, which weakened the Architect to a point where he was no longer able to "hold back" the Counter-Actor. After the Counter-Actor killed all the other ogres left in the room, Washu drew her in through a portal to Tokimi's dimension so that the Chousin could attempt to contain her there.[4]
