Odym is the homeworld of the Blue Lantern Corps.

History[edit | edit source]

In 150,081 CMT, Ynot travelled to Odym in search of a Blue Lantern Ring as part of his quest to collect a Lantern Ring of each color.[1] He watched as the Blue Lantern Corps recited their chant and decided to get their attention by reciting his own: "In darkest hour, on brightest deed, no entity will slow my Creed. Let my name be uttered by those it has not, quake in recognition, I AM YNOT!". The Blue Lanterns turned to face him as expected,[2] but only one approached: the former Green Lantern Hal Jordan. Hal refused to let Ynot harm the Blue Lanterns, so Ynot generated an iron spear and threw it into Hal's shoulder.[3] Ynot reasoned that, because he had spoken to Hal about his quest beforehand, Hal should have said something then if he did not want the Blue Lanterns to be harmed. Hal ordered Ynot to stop, so Ynot threw another spear into Hal's other shoulder and decided that, to be fair to Hal, he would hold off on his assault on the Blue Lanterns until he had the Purple, Indigo, Black, and White Rings, at which point he would return to Odym and take both of Hal's Rings. Ynot then released Hal from his grip and left Odym.[4]

Later, Hal gave a speech to the rest of the Blue Lantern Corps on Odym where he attempted to reassure them that Ynot had no chance of defeating him, but to his surprise, Ynot returned to Odym before he could finish. Ynot announced that he had collected seven of the nine Lantern Rings - but that he wasn't going to use them to fight Hal. He explained that doing so would defeat the point of his mission, which was to prove to the various Lantern Corps that he did not need to wield Rings to defeat them in battle. Ynot then drew Ka-Oni-Santsu and tapped into the emotion of Pride to overpower Hal, which resulted in the appearance of the first ever Platinum Lantern Ring on his finger.[5] Despite the evidence in front of him, Hal refused to accept that Pride could overpower his will and did not concede, so Ynot used the Sora-o-Nensho technique on Hal,[6] crippling but not killing him.[7]
