The New York City Police Department, abbreviated as NYPD, is the primary law enforcement agency of New York City.

History[edit | edit source]

In 150,084 CMT, the NYPD received a call from an anonymous source who claimed that he knew what had happened to Doug Walker's stolen $200,000; an unsolved case that the NYPD had begun to investigate two years prior. By sheer coincidence, the NYPD police officer who answered the call was also personally invested in the case because he had donated $10 to the Kickstarter campaign that Walker had started to raise the $200,000 in the first place. The caller then gave his testimony, claiming that he had witnessed Ross Mandell physically assault Walker on Wall Street and steal the $200,000 before travelling to a spaceport and leaving Earth aboard a ship bound for the Stouttish Islands. The police officer created a transcript of the caller's statements and jokingly threatened to trace the call because the caller sounded like he stalked celebrities for a living, which caused the caller to hang up.[1]

The police officer immediately informed his colleagues about the tip-off he had received. Aside from popular rumors that Taylor Swift lived there, the NYPD were able to recover little information about the Stouttish Islands save for the fact that they were located on the other side of the universe and their galactic coordinates. However, the head of the NYPD precinct decided to "call in some favors" to assemble a team to travel to and search the Stouttish Islands for Ross Mandell, in part because the fact that the Stouttish Islands were not claimed by any officially-recognized civilization meant that NYPD did not need to obtain any kind of warrant to search them.[1]

Within the next few days, the NYPD acquired advanced portal technology and used it to send a dozen police spinners to the Stouttish Islands. The NYPD broadcasted a message on multiple wavelengths to inform the residents of the Stouttish Islands that a police search for the criminal fugitive Ross Mandell was being conducted and that anyone found refusing to comply with the NYPD in their search of the islands would be found guilty of obstruction of justice and would be taken back to Earth for questioning. One of the first Stouttish Islanders to receive this message was Tourettes Guy, another criminal fugitive from Earth, who immediately panicked and attempted to flee from this police in his car. However, his very loud and obvious attempt to escape alerted one of the police spinners, which landed on the road behind him and gave chase. Tourettes Guy swore at the pursuing spinner, but took his eyes off the road in doing so and crashed into a tree. As the driver of the spinner stepped out and prepared to arrest Tourettes Guy, Chris appeared, disabled the policeman with pepper spray,[2] and knocked him unconscious.[3]

Moments later, another police spinner caught up to the Moonbase Alpha Astronaut and arrested him when he ran out of breath. Two policemen stepped out of the spinner and began to question the astronaut as to why he had tried to run from them, but were interrupted by the shouts of Tourettes Guy and Chris nearby. The policemen gave chase and eventually caught up to the two fugitives, tackling and handcuffing them. Tourettes Guy, Chris, and the Moonbase Alpha Astronaut were then loaded into the back of the police spinner to be taken back to Earth for questioning. Because that particular spinner was only large enough to accommodate two officers in the front and three prisoners in the back, the officers decided to leave sooner than the rest of the search party to take the prisoners back to their headquarters. The spinner flew into the sky and returned through the NYPD-created portal to New York City.[3]
