In the Shattered Mirror Universe, Klak was a reckless and rebellious Makuta who betrayed Caiaphus to become a mediator between the forces of SM Kakamu and Zev Badguy. Although Caiaphus destroyed him for his betrayal, SM Klak's intelligence continued to exist in shards of his antidermis, which manipulated Ta'harok to pursue Caiaphus and inspired SM Nadle to create a cult devoted to bringing him back to life.
History[edit | edit source]
SM Klak was a Makuta who used to work with SM Caiaphus, a lieutenant in the Order of Mata Nui. The alliance persisted until SM Klak betrayed Caiaphus by using his experiments for a different purpose than what Caiaphus had intended, becoming a mediator between the forces of SM Kakamu and Zev Badguy. In response, Caiaphus fought SM Klak and destroyed him, shattering his form into shards of antidermis that still retained some of his motives and intelligence. Some of SM Klak's antidermis shards were recovered by SM Nadle, an insane Makuta with a cult of suicidal cave-Toa who worshipped SM Klak, while others were recovered by Ta'harok. The lingering intelligence of SM Klak in the antidermis shards instructed SM Nadle and his cult in the ways of the shadows over a period of hundreds of years, while the shards that Ta'harok had collected manipulated him into believing that Caiaphus was the one who had betrayed SM Klak instead of the other way around. Deciding that Caiaphus was too dangerous to be allowed to live, Ta'harok started to hunt him down, which forced Caiaphus to return to the Original Universe.[1]
By 150,080 CMT, SM Nadle had travelled to the Original Universe and made a deal with Caiaphus that he hoped would enable him to bring SM Klak back to life. SM Nadle explained to Rahn that he thought that resurrecting SM Klak was possible if he combined the leftover shards of his antidermis with OU Klak's antidermis.[2] After SM Nadle, Rahn, and OU Klak (who had temporarily turned to the shadows) teleported to Blackout's location on Darkmount to offer him their assistance,[3] SM Nadle broke away from the group to confront OU Nadle.[4] In the battle that followed, OU Nadle used his Kraata power of Insect Control to summon a swarm of insects despite inhabiting a non-Makuta body at the time, which baffled SM Nadle because the shards of SM Klak's antidermis had not taught him that ability.[5] OU Nadle then killed SM Nadle, putting an end to his mission to resurrect SM Klak.[6]
In 150,082 CMT, Caiaphus told OU Klak about SM Klak and his eventual fate. Caiaphus praised SM Klak for being even more reckless than his counterpart, adding "Had I been more knowledgable about the shadows, I would have recruited him".[7] However, Caiaphus clarified that OU Klak was the best apprentice he had ever had, including SM Klak.[8]

- ↑ Klak (OU) (revision on 19:29, Mar 14, 2012): "SM Klak was a Makuta who used to work with SM Caiaphus, a lieutenant in the Order of Mata Nui. However, he betrayed him, becoming a mediator between SM Kakamu's forces and SM Zev Raregroove. SM Caiaphus was forced to fight this Klak, and destroyed him. However, Tahar'ok misunderstood this, believing that Caiaphus betrayed Klak (obviously, his mind was clouded by the shadows of what remained of SM Klak's Antidermis). This lead to the Tahar' trying to kill SM Caiaphus. Ironically, all this became a reason for Tahar'ok to later warn the original Klak about the original Caiaphus's mad goal to take over the universe. So inevitably, the events of one reality played an important part in the events of another. In reality, of course, SM Caiaphus was actually the original Caiaphus all along. What remains of SM Klak is either fragments of his antidermis that were kept by SM Nadle and his cult of suicidal cave-Toa, or utterly destroyed."
