In the Dark Universe, John Sheppard was a member of MECH. His current status is unknown.

History[edit | edit source]

Arrival in the OU[edit | edit source]

At some point in his life, John Sheppard joined MECH and pledged loyalty to its leader, Shockwave. He was one of the MECH members who travelled to the Original Universe aboard Cluster One to hunt and kill Dukamu. Le Chiffre went in first, attacking Dukamu on the planet of Vassilan, while Sheppard and Ultron watched. However, Dukamu escaped and Le Chiffre was captured by Vassilan drones, forcing Ultron and Sheppard to teleport in and rescue him. After Sheppard shot the drones and Ultron grabbed their operator, they teleported back to Cluster One and briefed Shockwave on the failure of the mission.

Attack on Aperture[edit | edit source]

Sheppard was later tasked with assisting the newly-revived DU Uterio in seizing control of the Dark Universe's Aperture Science space station. After Cluster One returned them to the Dark Universe, Sheppard flew Uterio to the station in a space shuttle. He then used a cutter beam on the underside of the shuttle to gain access to the station. Once inside, the two allies fought their way through various droid patrols and even DU Motrokh, who Sheppard shot and incapacitated. When they reached a blockade, they decided to blow a hole in the wall and make an alternate route for themselves. Unfortunately, this caught the attention of nearby droids who began pelting them with laser fire, so they jumped through the hole and fell through to the bridge of the station. They were then confronted by the owner of the station, DU Vorahk-Kah.

Sheppard let Uterio do most of the fighting, but when Vorahk-Kah gained the upper hand, Sheppard stepped in and finished off the hyper-evolved Rahkshi by throwing two balls of light at his already-damaged head. Now that their mission was over, Sheppard used the station's systems to contact Shockwave and inform him of their success. Cluster One soon emerged from a portal next to the station with Shockwave on board, who told Sheppard that he would take it from there.

Demon's Run[edit | edit source]

Some time later, Shockwave told DU Sheppard, DU Ultron and DU Muta that the time had come for them to strike at the Original Universe, starting with the ZFT base Demon's Run. Sheppard was teleported onto the base with DU Uterio, and they made their way through the station, killing anyone they came across. Eventually, they bumped into D-Klak, D-Helryx and Abneris. Instead of killing them, they had a tense conversation, in which D-Klak's group revealed that they were escaped prisoners from an alternate universe. Sheppard decided that they could use their help in destroying the station, so with the approval of Shockwave, they made an alliance and proceeded to kill everyone else on board. Following this, D-Klak's group escaped, and MECH claimed Demon's Run as a new base of operations.

Finding Marendar[edit | edit source]

After DU Ultron and DU Muta succeeded in instigating a war between the Glatorian and the Vrai on Bara Magna, DU Sheppard and DU Uterio were sent there to collect Marendar, a robot created by the Great Beings to destroy Toa. The outcome of this mission is unknown, since the MECH plotline was dropped by DRJ.

Weapons[edit | edit source]

Sheppard's weapon of choice was some kind of gun which could fire raindrop-shaped blasts of energy capable of disintegrating targets. He called this attack "Lonesome Tears". It also glowed when in use.

In addition to the gun, Sheppard also carried something called a "Paper Tiger" with him. It appeared to be a small origami tiger which could grow to the size of a regular tiger and attack enemies.

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Sunday Sun - In an attack that he called "Sunday Sun", Sheppard was able to create balls of pure light in his hands, which could then be hurled at enemies.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • All of Sheppard's attacks were named after songs from the Beck album Sea Change.
