- "The only perfection in this world is beauty, and beauty cannot be quantified in any way. It can be seen, but never in the same way by different people. It can be felt, but cannot be touched. Beauty is illogical, and therefore perfection is illogical."
- ―Muta reciting Jarvis's definition of perfection to Kakamu[1]
Jarvis Silverwood is an inventor working in the Special Projects division of Monarch ElectroDynamics who was responsible for creating Project MUTA-33108, also known as Muta.
History[edit | edit source]
Jarvis spent much of his early life on Ordon III, where he met Etende Rhaloff, who had been crushing on him since childhood. Jarvis was due to marry her in 4 AR, but abruptly abandoned her when he was offered a ticket to on Ordon V to pursue a senior researcher position at Monarch ElectroDynamics, demonstrating that he valued an opportunity to advance his research far more than any personal relationship.[2]
In 7 AR, Jarvis created Project MUTA-33108, also known as Muta, within the Special Projects division of Monarch ElectroDynamics. Though the exact reason for Muta's creation is unclear, it is known that Jarvis implemented cutting-edge technology into the android that allowed it to process information at a rate that was previously thought impossible, enabling it to decipher the meaning of any ancient language from a sample of text within seconds. Jarvis also programmed Muta with free will and sentience nearing that of a human, as well as the definitions of many human concepts, including Jarvis's own personal definition of beauty.[1]
When the New Order agent Kakamu went missing during an assignment on Nil'nara, Arc Keylana contacted Daniel Danssen, Jarvis's boss and Monarch's liaison to the New Order, to request the technology that Jarvis had been working on in the hope that it would allow the New Order to quickly decipher the language of an ancient portal device found near the scene of Kakamu's disappearance. Danssen separated Muta from his creator and immediately shipped the android to the New Order, where Muta was placed in a team of field operatives led by Voorak-Kah and named the Fellowship of Kakamu that were tasked with recovering Kakamu.[1]
67 days after his initial activation, Muta turned on his squadmates in order to help Kakamu save Vekhta, who had since become an enemy of the New Order. In his reasoning, Muta explained to Kakamu that, since he had lacked a purpose since Kakamu's return, he had decided to devote his life to the search for perfection that Jarvis had described, believing that Kakamu had already found his own 'perfection' in the form of Vekhta.[1]
Beyond's Timeline[edit | edit source]
In Beyond's Timeline, Jarvis came up with a plan to send Beyond Dahrk back in time in order to prevent the ingress of Arc Blair into the Milky Way Galaxy. The plan involved sending Beyond to the Tular Va'al island of Jeddar, where Dachori scientists had conducted top-secret research. Many characters devoted themselves to fulfilling Jarvis's plan, not least of all Beyond's adoptive parents, Kakamu and Vekhta.[3]
