Mick Sruban is a tinkering drunkard who dreamed of the life of a mercenary. After being kicked out by his wife, he decided to pursue his dream by responding to Ozar's call for mercs.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Sruban is an overweight Caucasian man in his 40s. He has a full head of brown hair styled in the shape of a bowl cut. He wears large brown robes and a bandolier draped over his shoulder which contains various other gadgets.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Sruban is generally jovial and well-meaning, but is a bit of an oaf. His skill lies in making weapons and other gadgets using junk electronics, but he is not really good at anything else. He is chatty but has a tendency to be a bit too honest when talking about his life and his habits; this honesty also makes him a terrible liar. Alcoholism is one of his defining characteristics, but he does not see this as detrimental because alcohol always "lifts his spirits". He claims to be good in fist-fights, but this has yet to be verified. He is also one of the only characters in BZPB history to ever suffer from teleportation sickness.
History[edit | edit source]
Sruban first appeared on Ozar's ship when he used a teleporter to beam aboard it after hearing the pirate's call for mercenaries. He drunkenly introduced himself and was hesitantly accepted into the mission by Ozar. Five days later, Sruban returned to Ozar's ship with the same teleporter, but suffered a bout of teleportation sickness and threw up in a corner. After taking some time to recover, he and Fourteen were deposited on the blockade runner of the convoy they were assigned to destroy. Sruban shot some mines on the walls of the ship as he made his way through, but was eventually caught by Raigen. He tried and failed to convince the wolf that he was one of the ship's new engineers. Luckily, Fourteen saved his skin by diffusing the situation. Raigen told them that he was looking for a scientist on board, so Fourteen and Sruban decided to help their new friend find him.
When the trio found the scientist, Raigen shot a cryo-chamber behind him, freeing its occupant. Fourteen persuaded her that they meant her no harm while Sruban looked on. Amy joined the group, but as they went to leave, they were attacked by a group of soldiers. Sruban dispatched one of them with the Facehugger, but was nearly killed by their counterattack. He managed to save Amy from one of the guards by tackling him and shooting him in the leg.
Weapons[edit | edit source]
Sruban's signature weapon is something he calls "The Facehugger". It looks something like a grapple gun, but with a keypad attached to the gun's handle, and with modified land mines as ammunition. Four small metal claws are connected to each mine. Upon hitting a target, the mines' claws snap shut, and LED lights on the mines light up to signify that they are primed to explode. By typing a code on the keypad on the Facehugger, Sruban can either deactivate the mines or signal them to explode. The keypad is an added security feature, so that if anyone tried to use his gun against him, they would not know the code used to signal the mines to explode.
Sruban calls it the Facehugger because he once used it to shoot a mine at somebody's face, which then attached to it via the claws and blew their head off.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Sruban's signature weapon, which can be used to explode heads, is a reference to the original Sruban's ability to do the same thing.
