The Raito Nakamura of the Shattered Mirror Universe was a member of the SM Galactic Government who witnessed its collapse in an unknown cataclysmic event. For reasons unknown, he blamed the residents of the Original Universe for laying ruin to his universe and swore revenge. In 150,084 CMT, he secretly replaced his OU counterpart in the Galactic Government in an attempt to destabilize it, but was stopped and apprehended.
History[edit | edit source]
Early Life[edit | edit source]
The Guild of Psymancers determined that much of SM Raito's early life was the same as his Original Universe counterpart until early adulthood, when some kind of cataclysm obliterated the Shattered Mirror Universe's Galactic Government. From there, he became obsessed with the Shattered Mirror and vowed to exact revenge upon the Original Universe for reasons unknown.[1]
The Mazkertis Paradox[edit | edit source]
In 150,084 CMT, SM Raito Nakamura crossed over into the Original Universe and secretly replaced his counterpart there in the Galactic Government, assuming his title of "Akoran Zicks" and becoming the new Commander-in-Chief. He shielded himself from the Galactic Government's Psymancers with psyblock to reduce suspicion that the original Zicks had been replaced and took measures to weaken the government from within.[1] When the funeral of Kong came around, SM Zicks attended under the guise of his alternate self and decided that he would use Kong's death as an excuse to disband the Galactic Government because "nobody could continue Kong's legacy". He gave an emotional but insincere eulogy about his supposed former mentor and was subsequently approached by Klak, who lectured him on the hardship of death and the strength one must have to fill the void left by it. SM Zicks thanked Klak for his kind words, but silently rejected his advice because it was irrelevant to his plan. After the funeral, SM Zicks contacted GGNews, the Galactic Government's news network, and told them that the next meeting of the Reverie would be made publicly viewable via a synchronized livestream. He also announced that this meeting would take place on a certain date a few weeks after the funeral.[2]
As promised, the 3784th Assembly of the Reverie[1] occurred on Day 56 of The Mazkertis Paradox arc in the Galactic Government's senate chamber above Mariejois. SM Zicks arrived to preside over the meeting, but his introductory speech was cut off by a temporary power failure caused by the appearance of a portal in the middle of the chamber. Captain Eurobeat emerged from this portal and introduced himself and his allies: Niflheim, Leviathan, and Strika, to the bewildered senators. Leviathan took the opportunity to warn the congregation about Mazkertis and his goals, and ask them for help in finding and defeating him, but SM Zicks was uninterested. Instead, he apologized to the senators, telling them that he summoned them not because of "Mazkertis", but because he wanted to formally announce the dissolution of the Galactic Government in a place that they were already gathered, so that they could immediately begin renegotiating planetary trade routes, alliances, and other affairs. SM Zicks attempted to justify his decision by telling of how the Uterio War crippled much of their forces and infrastructure, causing other intergalactic unions like the Cooperative to prop up to take their place. SM Zicks also mentioned how the GG had to resort to contracting other entities, such as the Blackwatch Corporation, to administrate trade routes for them; in fact, SM Zicks claimed that the Blackwatch did such a good job that he would transfer ownership of the Supermax prisons to them. SM Zicks's announcement prompted outrage in the chamber, but he stated that his decision was final and left to initiate the dissolution process before anyone could try to stop him.[2]
Immediately after this historic conference, SM Zicks went into hiding as hundreds of news outlets attempted to pry into his personal life, wondering if he had some ulterior motive for collapsing the organization.[2] The Galactic Government outposts that protected XTR-378, Yoon-Ta, SD-349, and New Vourah took SM Zicks's word as gospel and immediately ceased operations, leaving the planets vulnerable to attack from hostile forces. The Gorosei were enraged, so Masahito Nakamura, Zicks's father, launched a manhunt for his son.[1]
Almost three weeks later (Day 76), SM Zicks was arrested and handed over to the Judoon, who had orders to take him to Pangaea Castle on Mariejois to meet with Nakamura. The Judoon trapped Zicks in stasis cuffs and took him to a station in orbit of Mariejois to be "processed", which had to be done before he could be allowed to land on the planet's surface. This was a tedious and time-consuming process that had resulted in SM Zicks having to complete four "authentications": a blood test, a full-body X-ray scan, a scan for irregular chronon particles to verify that he originated from the current time period, and a tissue extraction to verify that he had been born naturally and not grown in a clone tank. The verification machines failed to find any indicator that he originated from an alternate universe, so SM Zicks was "verified" as Akoran Zicks and allowed to enter Mairejois. The Judoon escorted him to Nakamura's chamber and left him with Nakamura and two Psymancers, who scanned his mind and broke through his psyblock to discover that he originated from the Shattered Mirror Universe.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Raito Nakamura was named after Raito, a Japanese character in the Half-Life 2 mod Underhell. Like Raito Nakamura, Raito is eventually revealed to be an undercover agent in the story he originates from.
