In the Soulverse, Portia Potter was a Nifling medium and thaumaturgist who owned Portia's Thaumaturgy in Ide, Rhadan.
Description[edit | edit source]
Slender and svelte, Portia Potter had a body covered in silky, dark purple fur, with prominent wavy bangs hanging forward atop her head, eyes with golden sclera and ruby-red irises, and no apparent nose. Her attire consisted of a dark red, long-sleeved, button-up dress shirt, form-fitting gray pants, and neat leather shoes. Tied around her waist was a wide indigo sash with long ends that hung down to the sides, and golden rings adorned fingers on both hands. Portia's outfit was completed by a dark red witch's hat with small masses of pink fire resting at the top of her hat's pointed crown and at both ends of her sash. She spoke with a faint English accent.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
While Zuki was doing her rounds in Ide, she noticed that she had a parcel to deliver to Portia Potter, a Nifling medium and thaumaturgist who was a previous acquaintance of hers. When Zuki asked Carlos if he knew where she could find Portia, Carlos replied that he thought that Portia had rented out a building close to the city library for her work, so Zuki thanked him and left to search for Portia. After some exploration, Zuki eventually discovered Portia's shop, Portia's Thaumaturgy, wedged between two larger buildings near the Ide Library. When Portia answered the door to see Zuki, she excitedly hugged her old friend and dragged her inside, proceeding to fix Zuki a glass of iced lemonade that she hoped would refresh her after her exhausting delivery runs.[1] Once Zuki had finished her second glass, Portia grabbed the package that Zuki had come to deliver to her: a wooden, rectangular box.[2]
Other than the fact that it had been sent by Portia's grandfather, Zuki stated that she had no idea what the item was, so Portia unlocked the box in front of Zuki by summoning a small sphere of nebulous dark energy that entered its outer seal, revealing a grimoire inside.[2] After Portia scanned the grimoire, discerning that it contained thaumaturgical information, she explained to Zuki that her grandfather occasionally sent her grimoires like it that would help her to make better thaumaturgical creations. Once Portia had safely laid the book on a secluded shelf, the two women went outside to sit and relax in a couple of chairs. However, Zuki soon noticed a girl nearby who was holding a small black kitten in her arms with a lonely gaze that troubled her. Zuki asked Portia if she knew who the girl was, but Portia was only able to reply that the girl's name was Mamimi, because that was all that she knew about her.[3]
