Patchouli Knowledge is a highly experienced scholar of magic, well-regarded in the magical community as being an expert on all magic-related phenomena.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Patchouli is described as being a small girl with pale skin, lavender purple hair, and almost sagacious wysteria eyes. Atop her head is a shapeless cap that is adorned with red, blue, and yellow ribbons, and a wrought golden crescent moon-shaped decoration. She has a fondness for cushions and blankets, which she surrounds herself with whenever she's not moving.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Patchouli is an incredibly introverted character; much preferring to stay at home and brush up her knowledge than spend any time outside. Her reclusive behaviour was caused by her obsession with books and studying, especially those concerning magic; but over time this led to a decrease in her health due to the lack of a healthy lifestyle. When her health is particularly bad, she becomes irritable, and demands to be left alone.
History[edit | edit source]
Some time in the past, Patchouli worked with Nefarian on an unknown project. Their collaboration ended when they went to pursue different goals.
Many years later, Nefarian was approached by Latta and Groularougarn, who had a problem concerning magic that only Patchouli could solve.[1] Nefarian reluctantly agreed to contact Patchouli for them, so he travelled to his inner sanctum in Blackrock Mountain and contacted her via his computer. The sickly Patchouli was not too happy to see him, and asked him directly what he wanted in order to skip over the small talk.[2] Despite this indicator, Nefarian said that he hoped she was in good health,[3] to which she angrily jibed that she was never in good health, and called him an "insufferable serpent". She then moved back to the topic at hand (in order to wrap up their conversation as quickly as possible).[4]
Nefarian disclosed that Groularougarn wanted her help in determining the cause of the disturbance in the atmosphere of his planet, and gave her details of the erratic weather patterns plaguing it.[5] Patchouli recalled a similar incident that she had read about; and told Nefarian that it could be that a mage is collecting spiritual humors, and that the odd weather may or may not be a side effect. She then demanded to be left to rest,[6] so Nefarian apologized for disturbing her and ended the call.[7]
