In the Dark Mirror Universe, the Order of Mata Nui was a secretive organization devoted to enacting the will of Mata Nui and the safety of the Matoran.

History[edit | edit source]

Early History[edit | edit source]

The Order of Mata Nui was founded by Helryx in the early days of the Matoran Universe to protect and serve the Great Spirit Mata Nui.[1]

The Order of Mata Nui's existence remained secret to the rest of the universe even after the Toa Empire was formed. Helryx did not order an attack on Tuyet because there was no evidence that her actions were threatening the safety of Mata Nui or the Matoran.[1] Despite this, several Order of Mata Nui members such as Axonn fought against the Toa Empire on their own because they objected to Tuyet's rule.[2] In addition, the Order of Mata Nui member Brutaka came into conflict with the Toa Empire when he refused to allow them to explore Voya Nui.[3] Brutaka faked his death to escape the skirmish with the Empire's agents,[4] but lost his weapons and mask in the process.[1]

When Tuyet was killed, Dume formed a council that consisted of representatives from all the major factions of the Matoran Universe to discuss what would happen next.[5] Helryx eventually took Dume's place as the leader of this council.[6]

Relocation of the Matoran[edit | edit source]

Ten years after the death of Tuyet, many Matoran of the Matoran Universe were relocated to an unidentified crystalline city outside the Matoran Universe. Ancient, a former member of the Order of Mata Nui, claimed that the Order had wiped most people's memories so that the Matoran would think that the crystalline city was their natural home and would not remember the true outcome of the Brotherhood of Makuta's attempt to take over the Matoran Universe. However, Ancient wanted the Matoran to know the truth, so, in an act of defiance, he summoned the Recorder to his side and had him write down Ancient's recollection of the events that had led them there.[7]

The Order of Mata Nui continued to exist in some form under the leadership of Helryx decades/centuries/millennia later, but it is unknown if they were still based in the Matoran Universe at that time.[8]

Modern Era[edit | edit source]

In 150,080 CMT, Helryx and Brutaka teleported to BZPower in the Original Universe to aid D-Klak. Brutaka dropped a green orb next to the unconscious Kestora which exploded and revitalized him. Helryx and Brutaka then teleported away before D-Klak could notice them.[8]

In 150,081 CMT, the Order of the Great Beings declared war on the rest of the multiverse. News of their declaration reached DM Axonn, who informed Helryx.[9] The door to the Order of Mata Nui members' building was then blasted down by the Visitor,[10] who told Axonn that he was there to capture Helryx. The Visitor then fired a disintegration blast at Axonn,[11] which led to a battle between the two.[2][12] The Visitor temporarily stunned Axonn with a surge of electricity, but four more Order of Mata Nui members charged into the room to subdue him.[13] Unfortunately, these other members were knocked unconscious with another wave of the Visitor's electricity.[14] The Visitor brought Helryx to the Original Universe,[15] which is where she spent most of the rest of her days until she was killed in the battle of Ragnarok.

The Order of Mata Nui may have since elected another leader to replace Helryx as a result of her extended disappearance and eventual death in another universe.
