Mutran was a brilliant but unstable experimental scientist in the Brotherhood of Makuta.

History[edit | edit source]

Life & Career[edit | edit source]

Mutran was a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta since at least the reign of Teridax.[1] This means that Mutran probably supported Blackout when he contested Teridax's position as the Grand Master of the Brotherhood of Makuta, because he continued to be a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta under Blackout's rule.

Mutran later constructed a hive in Karda Nui from which he conducted experiments on the local Matoran, including Mocax. Mutran's experiments on Mocax resulted in the appearance of an extra pair of arms that sprouted from Mocax's back, but Mutran forgot to drain Mocax's inner light in the process, which meant that the Matoran did not become subservient to the Brotherhood's ideals like many of the others that the Brotherhood had corrupted.[2]

One day, a higher-ranking Makuta scientist named Kakamu appeared in Mutran's hive to carry out a surprise inspection. Because Mutran was distracted with dealing with Kakamu, Mocax seized the opportunity to escape and fled into the Swamp of Secrets. When the Makuta realized that Mocax had escaped, Kakamu went looking for him on Mutran's behalf, eventually finding the Matoran. Mocax's pleas not to be returned to Mutran caused Kakamu to reconsider, so he offered Mocax an alternative instead: to become his personal assistant on Nynrah. Mocax accepted Kakamu's offer,[2] so Kakamu returned to Mutran's hive to inform Mutran of their new arrangement. Mutran did not object to Kakamu's adoption of Mocax because he considered Mocax a failed experiment, admitting that he was planning on eventually feeding him to one of his other experiments anyway.[3]

A Future Memory[edit | edit source]

In 253,074 CMT, Malygos and Anzu entered Ynot's mind in an attempt to free him of the corrupting influence of Ynohtna.[4] Inside Ynot's mind, the two found themselves faced with five marked doors, each leading to a different part of Ynot's psyche.[5] Malygos narrowed their choices down to the door marked with a pentagon and the door marked with a question mark, because he knew that Ynot's Hollow self "would reside in either the realm of darkness or in the realm of mystery.".[6] After Malygos entered the door with the question mark while Anzu entered the door with the pentagon, Malygos found himself in what appeared to be a memory of Ynot's distant past in which Ynot was tinkering with the design of a small Rahi on Destral. Ynot was then approached by Teridax, who asked Ynot if he had seen Krika. Ynot replied that Krika was in the training hall with Mutran and Chirox, so Teridax left to find them. The vision then ended and Malygos appeared back in the hall of doors, though the question door had disappeared.[1]

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Absorption: As a Makuta, Mutran could presumably absorb the mass of other biomechanical beings into his own body to increase his size and strength.[7]
  • Elemental Shadow Powers: As a Makuta, Mutran wielded the elemental power of Shadow. This enabled him to fire destructive blasts of shadow energy as a means of attack, as well as create shadow constructs such as Shadow Hands and cloak areas in darkness.[7]
  • Telepathy: As a Makuta, Mutran possessed telepathic abilities that enabled him to read, detect, communicate, and interact with non-shielded minds at a surface level.[7]
  • Kraata Creation: As a Makuta, Mutran could presumably create Kraata slugs of varying types, which could then be turned into Rahkshi through the use of Energized Protodermis.[7]
  • Kraata Powers: As a Makuta, Mutran presumably had access to the full range of Kraata powers, which would grant him the abilities of increased accuracy, instant environmental adaptation, anger induction, chain lightning, camouflage, confusion induction, cyclone creation, darkness creation, density control, matter disintegration, attack dodging, elasticity, electrical field creation, fear induction, increased resistance to fire and ice, gravity manipulation, eyebeam generation, energy draining, illusion casting, insect control, temporary invulnerability, magnetism manipulation, mind reading, molecular disruption, plantlife control, plasma generation, poison generation, power scream generation, rapid healing, Rahi control, shapeshifting, object shattering, sound dampening, sleep induction, slowness induction, sonic wave generation, stasis field generation, teleportation, vacuum creation, and weather control.[7]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • If User:Kon's memories are correct, Mutran was introduced into BZPB lore through backstory created for Mocax instead of being an actual character in the BZPB RPG. However, Mutran was later mentioned in BZPB: Future in an area of Ynot's psyche.[1]

He was captured and mutated by Makuta Mutran, gaining an extra pair of arms on his back, but Mutran forgot to drain his natural light energy. When he was distracted with his other experiments, Mocax broke free and fled to the swamp below before being found by Kakamu. Kakamu saw no need to hand Mocax back over to his captor, so he gave him the opportunity to become his assistant back on Nynrah instead. Mocax accepted [...]"
