In the Shattered Mirror Universe, Metru Nui was an island city that functioned as the brain of the Great Spirit Mata Nui. Due to its strategic significance to the Matoran Universe as a whole, it was coveted by SM Ynot in his campaign to take over the Matoran Universe. Metru Nui was later bombarded by OU Blackout when SMY reactivated the Mata Nui robot in an attempt to turn it against his enemies.
History[edit | edit source]
The Shattered Mirror was transported to the Metru Nui Archives for an unknown reason at some point. Some time after the Brotherhood of Makuta's initial discovery of the Shattered Mirror, its leader, Kakamu,[1] and an ally of his named Ta'harok[2] passed into it and disappeared. When Kakamu's second-in-command Ynot learned of what had happened to him, he ordered that the Shattered Mirror be transported to Destral for study.[1]
SMY later conquered Metru Nui as part of his campaign to take over the Matoran Universe. Some time after SMY achieved this goal, the versions of Blackout[1] and Ynot from the Original Universe appeared.[3] Blackout used Darkmount to attack SMY's new dominion,[1] so SMY panicked and with SM Sasuken's help took control of the Mata Nui robot itself in an attempt to fend off Blackout,[3] who responded by bombarding Metru Nui.[1]
The Matoran Universe and Metru Nui were apparently destroyed as a result of this battle.[1]

As it turned out, he had passed through something known as "The Shattered Mirror", which had been found deep inside the Metru Nui Archives. Wishing to study it further, [SM Ynot] brought it to Destral, where he discovered that it had taken [SM Kakamu] to another world. [...] He then had a little fight with Trantoshen for control of Destral, won, and enjoyed ruling the MU. Then Blackout arrived, which drove [SMY] to attempt to reactivate Mata Nui. However, Blackout responded by bombarding Metru Nui. Shika then arrived, and made a wager that would involve [SMY] and Blackout killing the normalverse Ynot within one week. They failed, miserably. Unfortunatly, the prize for the victor (the MU), was destroyed in the process, so nothing came about except this Ynot's death."
