The Matoran Civil War was a 400-year-long war between the Matoran districts of Metru Nui.

History[edit | edit source]

In 20,580 CMT, minor conflicts between the districts of Metru Nui escalated into a full-blown civil war between Matoran.[1] The Ta-Matoran Kakamu was conscripted to fight on the side of Ta-Metru.[2]

One of the battles of the war took place in Ga-Metru. In this battle, the district's protodermis banks burst and several Matoran were swept out to sea, including Kakamu and a Ga-Matoran named Natero, though neither were aware of the other's existence. Both Matoran survived by clinging to pieces of driftwood. The disorientated Kakamu was struck by a bolt of lightning from the Red Star that transformed him into a Toa and eventually washed ashore on Daxia, while Natero washed up on one of the Southern Islands weeks later.[3]

The Brotherhood of Makuta feared that the disruption that the war caused could endanger Mata Nui's life if allowed to continue, so they ended the war in 20,980 CMT by killing a large amount of its combatants.[1]
