Marshall D. Teach, aka Blackbeard, is an ambitious and powerful space pirate.
History[edit | edit source]
Marshall D. Teach once joined the Whitebeard Pirates to get close to a precious magical artifact that was owned by one of their crew. Teach was a lower-ranked member of their crew and joined as an old-timer compared to most of the others of his rank, but this allowed him to put his plan into motion without drawing much attention to himself. He eventually made his move and killed his target in pursuit of the artifact. When Whitebeard discovered Teach's crime, he declared him an enemy of the Whitebeard Pirates for life. Teach went on to adopt the moniker "Blackbeard" in his pirate career.[1]
In 150,080 CMT, Kong summoned Zev Raregroove and Namah Calah to his office in the Galactic Government's headquarters to discuss the rising threat of Blackbeard. Upon hearing Blackbeard's name, Zev remarked that it was "hard to forget that backstabber", especially because "the worst part about him is that he can be such a likeable person to others when he wants to". Namah, on the other hand, had not heard of Blackbeard beyond a few stories, so Kong told her of Blackbeard's history with the Whitebeard Pirates. Kong then revealed to the two of them that Blackbeard had broken dangerous prisoners out of New Impel Down to add to his crew, and had eliminated two of the top rookie pirates in the last two months on his way to power. Kong speculated that only someone like Zev himself, the Pirate Lords, Blackout, or Malygos stood a chance at defeating Blackbeard. Finally, Kong advised Zev to kill Blackbeard instead of attempting to arrest him, because Blackbeard was simply too dangerous and could not be reasoned with. Zev agreed to hunt down Blackbeard for Kong because he had been "feeling like bringing a war to that fatso for a while".[1]
Blackbeard's current status is unknown because he has not been mentioned since.
