Lorthos was a gigantic octopus-like monster originating from the Elemental Plane of Water. It fell through a spacial tear to Datrio, where it was mortally wounded by Lina Inverse.
History[edit | edit source]
One day, Lorthos was minding its own business in the Elemental Plane of Water when it was sucked into a spacial tear that led to the planet Datrio. Not long after its arrival, it saw bursts of light and fire emanating from a nearby beach (which was Lina Inverse arriving on the planet and her subsequent retaliation against Prudence). Lorthos perceived the display of power as an attack on itself, and immediately summoned a huge tidal wave to launch at the beach. Lina neutralized the wall of water with a gigantic fireball, but her attack singed Lorthos's carapace, which only served to make it more angry. Lorthos responded with a psychic attack, attempting to make Lina, Prudence and Chrome kneel in its presence. The attack worked, but Lina managed to release another large blast of fire before she knelt. Lorthos roared in pain, grabbed Lina and Prudence with its tentacles and tried to slam them into the beach. Lina was forced to generate a powerful spell, Dragon Slave, in order to free themselves from Lorthos's grasp: The spell blasted a hole in Lorthos's side, mortally wounding it.
Prudence ran up to the dying Lorthos and apologized, explaining that they were just trying to defend themselves. With a device that she was carrying, Prudence determined that Lorthos originated from the Elemental Plane of Water. She decided to send it back there so that it would not die in an unfamiliar place. Lorthos thanked the girl as the portal enveloped it, disappearing forever.
Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]
- Water Manipulation - Lorthos had the ability to manipulate the seas around it. This had a variety of applications, including creating massive tidal waves to attack enemies.
- Telepathy - Lorthos had a large eye on the front of its head that it used to project its psychic powers to either communicate or enslave. This eye glowed blue when said powers were being used.
