Angeloid Alpha, also known as Ikaros, was the most powerful of all Angeloids and was the one in charge of dealing with threats to Upper Yard. She, Nymph, and Angeloid Gamma challenged Caiaphus in order to defend the Norman's home planet, Malchior IV, in the Battle of Conquistadores vs. Apprentices of Caiaphus.
Description[edit | edit source]
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Ikaros had the appearance of a teenage girl, seemingly about 16 or 17, with jaw-length pink hair that included a pair of long braids at the back that hung down to her ankles, as well as a pair of shoulder-length, crimson-tipped bangs that framed both sides of her face. She had emerald green eyes that always seemed to hold a strange sadness, and had small metallic half-domes on the sides of her head in place of ears. She normally dressed in green shorts and a yellow hoodie, with her small pristine white wings being unfolded on her back. When in combat mode, her wings unfolded to full size and a glowing halo materialized above her head; when not in combat mode, the halo disappeared and her wings shrunk considerably, to about a fifth of their actual size.[1]
Personality[edit | edit source]
Ikaros had a few issues with self-esteem and expressing her feelings. She was normally submissive and melancholic, and usually preferred not to speak if she could avoid it. Ikaros rarely never realized how truly powerful and intelligent she was, which could be seen whenever she occasionally talked about how she thought it would be better if she was an Entertainment-Purpose Angeloid so that she could put her singing and instrument playing talents to use more often. She had a bit of an attachment to Zev Raregroove, and loved watermelons, but not to eat; she treated watermelons like pets. Ikaros was an amazing singer who loved making people happy with her performances. She also knew how to play the lyre, the lute, the cello, the pan flute, and other instruments. Other features of her build included an almost bulletproof skin, the ability to fly at speeds reaching Mach 24, and the ability to survive about 720 hours without oxygen. However, the last one was essential for her in situations that submerged her in water, because like most Angeloids, Ikaros was completely unable to swim.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
Angeloids vs. Apprentices[edit | edit source]
In 150,080 CMT, Ikaros, Nymph, and Angeloid Gamma assisted Zev Raregroove and his allies in defending Malchior IV from Caiaphus in the Battle of Conquistadores vs. Apprentices of Caiaphus,[1] where Ikaros met and fought against Rahn.[2]
When Ikaros was asked for her opinion on Gazille Redfox, she replied: "He's a... tough guy... very serious... but on the inside... he's nice...".[3]
The Crimson Terror[edit | edit source]
In 150,081 CMT, Ikaros was on Idea when a strange, crimson-hued spaceship crashed into its surface, prompting her to go and investigate. When she stared into the crater that the ship had created, she encountered its occupants, CM Zev and CM Namah, the former of whom asked Ikaros to state her name. Once Ikaros had given it, CM Zev hurled a vortex of black and crimson energy towards her, but she blocked the attack effortlessly with the Aegis Shield. This demonstration caused CM Namah to realize that this Ikaros was the Original Universe's counterpart of the Ikaros of their universe - a girl equipped with an 'Aegis Array' who CM Zev had previously killed. CM Namah tried to get a reading on Ikaros's reiryoku count, but failed - hinting that this Ikaros could be much more powerful than the one they had encountered back in their own universe. As it became clear that the visitors were hostile, Ikaros switched into combat mode, transforming her civilian clothes into a hi-tech, formfitting white outfit that featured glowing, pale pink wings and a halo. She then asked the duo to leave, because Idea did not want visitors.[4]
Despite the obvious danger that Ikaros posed, CM Zev decided to lunge at her anyway, suffering a broken nose from her arm as a result. When he tried to attack Ikaros again, she used her close combat abilities to deliver critical blows to his solar plexus, face, liver, and legs, with the latter attack breaking CM Zev's left knee and slamming him face-first into the ground. CM Zev responded with more hostile language, so Ikaros followed up her attacks by shocking him with dark energy. Meanwhile, CM Namah discovered that CM Zev and herself were both within the sphere of influence of some kind of field generated from below ground that was blocking their Spacial Interference abilities, which surprised her, because as far as she was aware, only the Second Magic could have such an effect. While the two were distracted, Ikaros activated her Artemis subsystem, which launched a wave of swift, omnidirectional energy missiles from her wings that blew the Crimson Mirror warriors away. Ikaros then pleaded with them both again to leave, stating that fighting in this manner was making her internal reactor hurt.[4]
Though CM Zev wanted to continue the fight, CM Namah convinced him that they needed to retreat because, even if they defeated Ikaros, they would never stand a chance against their original targets on Idea if they were cornered in the interference field. After CM Zev reluctantly agreed, the two warriors returned to their spaceship and left Idea while Ikaros watched from the surface, transforming back into her civilian clothes. CM Zev and CM Namah then reported their encounter with Ikaros to CM Misaki, who was bewildered and enraged by their failure.[4]
Combat Systems[edit | edit source]
- Aegis Shield: A perfectly spherical forcefield, this technology was a nearly perfect defense in that could block attacks from all angles. However, as a trade-off, the Aegis Shield could only block direct attacks and not anything without actual combat intent like, for example, falling rubble, and Ikaros could not move while using it. The Aegis Shield was named after the shield used by the mythical Zeus, King of the Greek Gods.[1]
- Artemis: A barrage of multi-directional energy missiles fired from Ikaros's wings. Each one had a homing system and they could be set to lock onto multiple targets or a single target. Artermis was named after the mythical Artemis, the Greek Goddess of the Moon and of Hunting.[1]
- Apollo: This feature summoned a golden bow named the Seventh Heaven that Ikaros could use to fire a single energy arrow. At 100% power, this shot could cause an explosion with enough force to destroy an entire country, but the shock from such an attack would also leave Ikaros severely weakened for at least two to three weeks afterwards. Apollo was named after Apollo, the mythical Greek God of the Sun and of Medicine.[1]
- Hephaestus: This feature summoned a gigantic winged cannon beside Ikaros that possessed enough raw firepower to level a mountain, which even dwarfed the power of Angeloid Gamma's Prometheus Rifle. It was named after Hephaestus, the mythical crippled Greek God of Fire and of Blacksmiths.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Ikaros was one of the few Angeloids who did not have a specific type of combat purpose: Beta was Electronic Warfare, Gamma was Ambush, and Delta was Close Combat, but only Ikaros did not have a secondary specifying purpose.[1]
- Ikaros's Variable-Type Wings were highly valuable and prized by Upper Yard.[1]
