Boltman is a powerful lightning-themed warrior of unknown origins who has embarked on a mission to purge the universe of anime.

Description[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Boltman is a powerful, lightning-themed humanoid entity with rippling muscles and an incredible electric aura. Though it is unclear whether he is some kind of mechanoid, synthetic lifeform, or just a man in a battle suit, it has been confirmed that he is at least a combination of machine parts and organic materials who is fuelled by his own force of will and the little-understood HahaJ'UsT-Seying energy,[1] which provides him with a wide range of lightning-related abilities. Boltman's head or helmet is shaped like a stylized, three-dimensional lightning bolt striking downwards. A human-like face is molded into its front. This face sports robotic eyes with red irises that are usually concealed by a pair of black sunglasses atop a yellow nose. His mouth appears to be permanently clenched in the shape of an exaggerated, toothy grin, but this does not seem to impede his speech in any way.[2]

Boltman's torso resembles a dark blue football shirt with shoulder pads and the number "1" in white text on the front. The back features the word "BOLTMAN" in white text above the same number 1. His legs or pants are colored white and are adorned with blue and yellow lightning emblems on the sides. His feet appear to be typical studded football shoes.[2]

Personality[edit | edit source]

For reasons unknown, Boltman harbors an intense hatred of a being named Moonman and a style of Japanese animation, "anime", which birthed series that many characters and concepts in the Original Universe unknowingly originated from. This has caused Boltman to decide to travel the cosmos and attempt to destroy anyone or anything that his built-in scanners tell him are associated with anime.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Little is certain about Boltman's origins, as there have been several conflicting accounts. Once source claims that he was designed by a mad scientist who helped Yon set up the YONBOTS and decided to create his own prototype. Others claim that Boltman had existed long before the YONBOTS. Boltman once publicly declared that he would "rid the universe of anime", but was subdued by security guards and put into cryonic sleep before his anime purge could truly begin.[1]

The Boltman Cometh[edit | edit source]

In 150,084 CMT, Boltman was somehow awoken from his induced sleep by the presence of the YONBOTS, whose own Haha'J-UstSeying energies and sense of purpose revitalized him. Boltman flew to their location in space[1] and identified himself as Boltman, announcing the beginning of their alliance.[3] The YONBOTS agreed to Boltman's offer of an alliance and accompanied him as they flew towards the nearest inhabited planet, Sapsa, with the intention to scan it for traces of anime, but something else caught their attention: the Good Ship Sugarboat.[4] Boltman and the YONBOTS identified it as an enemy ship[5] and obliterated it by combining Boltman's lightning attacks with the YONBOTS' missiles.[6]

Battle on Dekan[edit | edit source]

Next, Boltman and the YONBOTS scanned the planet Dekan for anime-related characters, items, and plot elements, but the scan came up empty. Boltman was sceptical of the accuracy of this scan, so he touched down on the planet to get a closer look. Just as he was about to command the YONBOTS to leave the planet, something odd caught his attention: a floating steampunk-styled ship encased within a time lock. Boltman located and destroyed the time lock's generator, collapsing the time lock and freeing the people who were trapped inside: Peacock, Double[7], and the We'd Warriors (However, Boltman did not see the We'd Warriors because they were on the other side of the ship, and they immediately hid in the foliage to assess whether Boltman was a friend or foe).[8]

Boltman's scanners informed him that Peacock's ship was filled with munitions that the YONBOTS could use, so he asked Peacock to hand them over, lest she impede his mission. When Peacock refused and challenged him to a duel for the weapons instead, Boltman decided that she was an obstruction and killed her with a lightning bolt to the head. In response, Peacock's companion Double instantly shapeshifted into a monstrous battle form and attacked Boltman in an attempt to avenge her fallen friend. The battle between Boltman and Double was evenly matched and complicated by the fact that the YONBOTS were unable to help Boltman, because Yon had programmed them not to attack anything that appeared to have only one eye (and only one of Double's eyes were visible at the time, as the others were obscured by a piece of cloth). When Boltman realized the cause of the YONBOTS' inactivity and tore Double's cloth away, the YONBOTS were able to recognize her as a multi-eyed lifeform and killed her with concentrated fire from their eyebeams.[7]

After raiding Peacock's ship of most of its weaponry, Boltman and the YONBOTS detonated the rest behind them.[7] However, just as Boltman was about to leave, he was stopped by the We'd Warrior Wal Wal, who wanted to thank him for eliminating Peacock and Double for them. Boltman and Wal Wal then shared a manly, powerful handshake. Boltman assured Wal Wal that he would rid the universe of anime, and told Wal Wal to feel free to summon him whenever the We'd Warriors thought they had an anime problem.[8] With that, Boltman and the YONBOTS took off for their next destination.[7][8] They passed the dormant Eclipse on their travels, but did not notice him.[7]

Boltman Rising[edit | edit source]

One week after these events, Boltman assassinated the Commander-in-Chief of the Galactic Government, Kong, because he was an anime character. He killed him by stabbing a metal lightning bolt into his back; once that was done, he used his eyebeams to etch an image of his face with the caption "IT BEGINS" into a nearby wall as a warning to the rest of the universe. Neil Matheson's report on Kong's death was watched by Moonman, an old enemy of Boltman, who was previously unaware that Boltman was still alive. Moonman loaded an assault rifle and began preparing to take the fight to Boltman.[7]

Over a month and a half after their battle on Dekan, Boltman and the YONBOTS launched an attack on the Kamabakka Kingdom. Boltman instructed half of his YONBOTS to place powerful explosive charges (which they looted from Peacock's ship) around the island's foundations, and the other half to wipe out all the anime characters on the surface. Boltman himself participated in the attack on the surface, slaying several okama before arriving in the town hall, intending to find and eliminate the kingdom's rulers. There, he found that the only noble left was Emporio Ivankov, who was attempting to escape through a secret tunnel. Ivankov recognized him as the man who killed the ruler of the Galactic Government, and because Ivankov was a Revolutionary violently opposed to the G.G., he assumed that Boltman was an ally who had come to help him fend off the invasion, but found that he was mistaken when Boltman generated a lightning bolt to attack him with. In the ensuing battle between them, Ivankov shattered the left lens of Boltman's sunglasses, forcing him to remove them for the first time. Ivankov also attempted to inject the Yellow Fellow with supercharged female hormones, intending to humiliate him by turning him into a woman, but found that they had no effect on Boltman. In Ivankov's surprise, Boltman seized the opportunity to grab him and electrocute him to death.[9]

Now that he was sure that its leader had been killed, Boltman ordered the YONBOTS to leave the island with him. As they flew into space, the YONBOTS transmitted a signal that detonated the explosives, destroying the island's foundations and causing it to sink into the ocean.[9]

Over the next three weeks, Boltman and the YONBOTS defeated Pokotan and attacked and destroyed the city of Yur Wai-Fu, a city home to anime characters that was somewhere near the ruins of Makuhero City. Boltman began to dance in celebration, but was interrupted by the arrival of Cory Baxter, the most powerful anime character that side of the Milky Way Galaxy, and his allies. Cory effortlessly destroyed the YONBOTS surrounding Boltman and blasted him to the ground. Boltman looked up at the moon above him and cursed it, blaming Moonman for his defeat. As the cast of Cory in the House began to restrain Boltman, Moonman raised his arms in victory and played a celebratory song on his piano.[10]

Victims[edit | edit source]

So far Boltman (and the YONBOTS) have slain:

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Flight: Boltman has demonstrated the ability to fly short distances in his solid form, though he needs to transform into a lightning bolt to travel at faster speeds.
  • Electronic Communication: Boltman can send and receive electronic signals of varying nature within a certain distance. He uses this ability to silently command his YONBOTS.
  • Lightning Mimicry: One of Boltman's most fearsome powers is being able to transform his whole body into lightning. In this form, he can fly at lightning speed and is impervious to physical harm.
  • Lightning Projection: Boltman's favoured attack is to create stylized lightning bolts in his hands, which he then "throws" at enemies. Once they leave his hands, said bolts stop being "solid" and immediately convert into electricity, which travel towards their targets thousands of times faster than they otherwise would have.
  • Heat Vision: When his sunglasses are tilted up, Boltman can emit concentrated laser beams from his eyes, which are bright orange in colour.
  • Steel Construct Creation: In close quarters combat, Boltman creates stylized and uber-sharp lightning bolts to use as melee weapons to fight with. These bolts are formed from steel generated inside his chest. How he does this is currently unknown. These steel lightning bolts almost always carry an electrical charge, which is why it is inadvisable to go up against him with a conductive weapon. Boltman sometimes marks the corpses of his victims by leaving one of these bolts embedded in them.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Boltman's name and appearance are taken directly from the unofficial mascot of the San Diego Chargers, an American football team. However, his robotic voice and hatred of anime was inspired by a YouTube video. He was brought into the RPG in response to the overwhelming number of anime or anime-looking characters brought in by some people.
