- "Woah, that was totally radical, dude!"
- ―90s Kid, on the battle against Bring the Pain Barry
"90s Kid" was an ally of Linkara who was obsessed with 90s-era comics and pop culture.
History[edit | edit source]
In 150,084 CMT, 90s Kid was kidnapped by Bring the Pain Barry and held hostage on Kråvenhold, seemingly to draw out the League of Super Critics. Soon afterwards, Malcolm's ship ship, which was carrying the Critics, received a transmission of a recording of Barry yelling at 90s Kid.[1] Tracing the signal's origin to Kråvenhold, the Critics set off in search of 90s Kid.[2] Upon landing on the planet's surface and exiting the ship, Mortimer was snatched by a gryphon that carried him in the direction of a nearby village.[3] The Critics followed the gryphon but lost track of it in a village, leading Spoony to suggest asking a random townsperson about 90s Kid instead.[4] Linkara followed Spoony's advice and caught the attention of one of the townspeople, who, to Linkara's surprise, recognized him because 90s Kid had told the villagers to expect a "boring nerd" in a trilby hat (Linkara) to come to rescue him.[5]
It was then that Seran Dol-Abi asked Linkara who 90s Kid was. Linkara revealed that 90s Kid was a character on his show who usually lived in Linkara's closet whenever he was not needed, but he mysteriously disappeared a few weeks prior, forcing Linkara had to cancel 90s Kid's sketch.[5] Moments later, the sudden dispersal of the townspeople, combined with the sound of crashing noises emanating from a nearby barn, alerted the group to Barry's presence.[6] Barry then appeared from the barn pretending to be a kind old man, but quickly dropped the facade and attacked the Critics, which led to a fierce battle.[7]
90s Kid emerged from the barn following Barry's defeat and marvelled at how cool the battle between Barry and the Critics was. Linkara greeted 90s Kid, and the group celebrated their victory.[8]
Minutes later, 90s Kid witnessed Spanha be abducted by DU Monarch outside Malcolm's ship. When Malcolm ran outside and asked what had happened, 90s Kid informed him of Spanha's abduction. Linkara suggested splitting up to find Spanha and Mortimer's missing brother, Randolph, but noted that he should take 90s Kid home first. The Critics then boarded Malcolm's ship and left Kråvenhold.[9]
At some point during the next few months, 90s Kid left the League of Super Critics to go to Tievie to see if they had "90s kinos".[10]
