The Vorox are an animalistic subspecies of Glatorian that evolved into their own race on Bara Magna.

Description[edit | edit source]

The Vorox share many traits of their ancestors the Glatorian, such as a metal endoskeleton and overall similar physiology. The most significant physical difference between the two races is the presence of a large stinger tail emanating from the Vorox's backs; this trait was given to them by the Great Beings to aid in desert survival. Their helmets and masks are made of the skulls of dead creatures and the armor they wear is made from metal and bone.[1]

Over a hundred thousand years of social isolation, combined with the absence of the Great Beings' leadership, caused the Sand Tribe that the Vorox were descended from to slowly lose their sapience and regress into animalistic beasts in the wastelands of Bara Magna. While they can still handle weapons and speak a very broken version of the Agori language, they operate mostly on instinct, hunting in packs. They are also mostly nocturnal, preferring to sleep in their underground tunnels during the day and coming to the surface at night to hunt for prey.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

Desert Heat[edit | edit source]

In 100,080 CMT, Le Chiffre, who was the leader of another tribe that had also been persecuted by the more "civilized" tribes of Bara Magna, offered the Vorox an alliance so that they could work together to get revenge on their mutual enemies: the Glatorian and Agori. The Vorox accepted his offer, and thus became more of Le Chiffre's many assets. One of Le Chiffre's first uses of the Vorox was when he hid a large group of them in a tent to serve as a trap for Xeno, but Xeno managed to overpower and kill these Vorox with the help of Ulysses.[2] Zaski also slaughtered a pack of Vorox in the wastelands at around the same time, making it a double loss for the Vorox.[3]

Three Vorox were captured and forced to fight in an arena match against Silver-Silver. Nirtis, who was a spectator at this match, found Silver-Silver's ability to fight the Vorox off rather interesting.[4]

At some point during his campaign, Le Chiffre captured many Vorox and used them in his experiments. He kept the resulting mutated Vorox in his lab at first, but transported them onto Darkmount before the destruction of Bara Magna. Le Chiffre drafted these mutated Vorox into his army, along with many Glatorian and Agori who shared similar mutations. He had part of this army escort him to the Fellowship of Kakamu's location when they teleported onto Darkmount.[2]

Current Era[edit | edit source]

All of the Vorox on Bara Magna were killed when Blackout destroyed the planet by teleporting unstable hadrium into its core,[5] but these Vorox were later recreated along with Bara Magna by the Architect and Yon in 150,080 CMT.[6]

In 150,082 CMT, Airachnid and Abeloth went to Bara Magna to investigate the crash of the Harbinger. Airachnid asked Abeloth what kind of game they could find on the planet,[7] so he listed its resident species, including the Vorox.[8]

Far Future[edit | edit source]

"Bara Magna. One of three planets created as a result of the Shattering of Spherus Magna 250,000 years ago. Home to the species Agori, Glatorian, Skrall, Vorox, Zesk..."
An information terminal in the far future, Stargazer Chapter 2: A Picture in a Frame

In an unspecified year of the far future of the Original Universe, a computer information terminal told Sal'e that the Vorox were one of the species that inhabited Bara Magna.[9]

Known Vorox[edit | edit source]

  • Many Vorox that were placed in a trap for Xeno by Le Chiffre, but were killed by Xeno[2]
  • Several Vorox who ambushed Zaski in the wastelands, but were killed by him[3]
  • Three Vorox who were captured and forced to fight Silver-Silver in the arena[4]
  • An unknown amount of Vorox that were mutated by Le Chiffre[2]
