Valkenhayn R. Hellsing was the devoted butler of the Alucard Family and a servant of Rachel Alucard.

History[edit | edit source]

Centuries prior to the Shadows Rising arc, Valkenhayn R. Hellsing was one of the Six Heroes who united on Rhadan to combat the Beast. Once the Thurapi and True Ancestors had been able to perfect the experimental Ars Magi they had separately been working on, the Six Heroes went about teaching Rhadan how to utilize the Ars Magi. Bolstered by this newfound knowledge, the armies of Rhadan gathered on a nameless battlefield just in time to halt the Beast's rampage across the planet. Under the Six Heroes' command, the Beast was vanquished after another three years of combat. Their great mission completed, the Six Heroes disbanded and went their separate ways.[1]

In 150,081 CMT, Zev Raregroove instructed Ryoko Hakubi to telepathically contact three of the Six Heroes: Valkenhayn, Hakumen, and Jubei, and inform them that the First Prince of Jurai required their help aboard the Bebop II. Ryoko was reluctant because she did not like being around Valkenhayn, who she considered a "wrinkled up prune", or Hakumen and Jubei, who were also "relics" of days gone past, but she complied with Zev's orders regardless and used her telepathic powers to relay his message to the three ancient warriors. Zev also guessed that Valkenhayn would teleport himself, Hakumen, and Jubei to the Bebop II, which Ryoko confirmed would happen.[2] A few moments later, a whorl of dark energy manifested aboard the Bebop II that Valkenhayn, Hakumen, and Jubei emerged from, with Valkenhayn inspecting a silver pocketwatch to check that he and his allies had arrived on time.[3]

When Hakumen asked Nadle to explain what could have called for three of the Six Heroes to be reunited, Valkenhayn stepped in and offered his understanding of the situation instead. Valkenhayn surmised that a Great Being named Uterio di Armechio had declared war on Klak and his allies that certain individuals of high power were prevented from participating in, forcing Zev to call upon Valkenhayn, Hakumen, and Jubei as backup if necessary. Valkenhayn also revealed that he was aware of the existence of F-Klak and his attempts to push the Klak of the present into becoming evil. Valkenhayn guessed that F-Klak's reasons for doing so were so that his actions would grant the Klak of the present the ability to defeat his enemies and secure F-Klak's ownership of the future. In addition, Valkenhayn almost referred to Zev as "Yosho", but quickly corrected himself when he realized his mistake. Having finished his explanation of events, Valkenhayn finally introduced himself to the present crew of the Bebop II as Valkenhayn R. Hellsing, a devoted servant of Rachel Alucard, the head of the Alucard Family.[4]

Valkenhayn's ponytail was then playfully pulled on and admired by Edward, which made Ryoko uneasy because Valkenhayn could be "vicious" when provoked, but Valkenhayn simply laughed and thanked Ed for the compliment. Something about Ed caused Valkenhayn to speculate that she could be one of the "Whisperers"; a comment that was understood by Jubei. When Valkenhayn noticed that Kokonoe still seemed to hold a grudge against Jubei, he reassured Jubei that she would forgive him "in time".[4] After D-Klak corrected Valkenhayn in that Uterio was not a Great Being, but merely one of their servants,[5] Valkenhayn and Jubei went to unwind in the ship's cafeteria.[6]

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Teleportation: Valkenhayn R. Hellsing could teleport himself and others across extreme distances with great accuracy via a whorl of dark energy.[3]

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • It is unclear whether the Hellsing Family was intended to be the same family as that of Valkenhayn R. Hellsing or another family entirely.
