The Undermire is an area filled with mire, fungus, rotted plantlife, and zombies that exists below the foundations of Láng City on Hei Fon 4.

History[edit | edit source]

Before Láng City[edit | edit source]

Legends about the Undermire describe it as the site of a great massacre that was cursed so that the corpses of all who died there would awaken at night and attempt to claim living beings to add to their ranks. Monks and warriors had kept the zombies in the Undermire suppressed long enough to build the support foundations for Láng City there, but the creation of the city above had caused the Undermire to be blocked off from the sun and enshrouded in perpetual darkness, enabling the zombies to walk freely at all hours. The officials of Láng City condemned the Undermire as an unsafe area that was off-limits to civilians except for in extraordinary circumstances.[1]

Modern Era[edit | edit source]

In 150,083 CMT, Asabana created a golem that came to life prematurely because she had applied an animation enchantment too early. The maddened golem broke out of the Conquistadores Guildhouse and aimlessly punched the ground outside until it fell through the city's foundations and into the Undermire. The golem and the Undermire's zombies charged at each other, but the zombies were no match for the golem and were subsequently massacred.[1]

Asabana, Namah, and Zev Raregroove determined that the golem had entered the Undermire and spent over an hour convincing the local security to allow them access to the area. The trio took an old lift down to the Undermire and found the golem locked in combat with its resident zombies. Asabana, Namah, and Zev subdued the golem with the Crowned Mirror, Ether Tendrils, and a sword of air respectively, which gave Asabana the opportunity to deactivate the golem altogether and tie its control to an amulet to ensure that it would not go rogue again. Their mission complete, the three Conquistadores hauled the deactivated golem onto the lift and returned to Láng City.[2]
