The Annals of the Wanderer is a book originating from the Knowledge Dimension which chronicles the history of the Wanderer.

Description[edit | edit source]

The book is a thick white tome with a cover that is completely featureless except for its title, which is printed in plain black text. The first line of the book reads: "All that has happened before will happen again."[1]

History[edit | edit source]

The Annals of the Wanderer was created to document the history of the Wanderer, one of the Knowledge Dimension's canon agents.[2]

The book was stored in the Knowledge Dimension until it was stolen by the Sefer Yetzirah of the Dark Universe, who had followed Dukamu through a crack in time that took them both to the Knowledge Dimension. While she was there, the Dark Universe's Sefer, or "Dusefer", also stole another another book that chronicled the past, present, and future of the Dark Universe. Upon returning through the crack in time to her home universe, Dusefer used the metaphysical knowledge she had gained from the two books to change the Dark Universe's future by erasing any significant characters who could pose a threat to her and establishing a vast Ta'har-Makuta Empire.[2]

When the Wanderer discovered what had happened, she visited the Dark Universe to confront her dark counterpart, arriving in the heart of the empire on Tybion Primaris. Dusefer trapped the Wanderer in an apathy field which temporarily rendered her unable to move, but the field was disrupted and the Wanderer freed when the planet was attacked by a vast alliance of insignificant characters who had banded together to strike back against the Ta'har-Makuta Empire. After a vicious battle between the Wanderer and Dusefer, the Wanderer impaled her counterpart on the Revision Blade, killing that version of Dusefer and reverting all of the changes that she had made to the timeline of the Dark Universe.[2]

The Annals of the Wanderer itself somehow ended up in the Reborn Universe, where it fell into the hands of the Covenant. The book was kept hidden in the floor of the oldest of the Covenant's sanctums and was referred only to in whispers among their most senior members, which said that the book was written by Chronomancers in a reality separate to their own and contained the secrets of the multiverse itself. These rumors reached the mad wizard Sikkatim, who initially dismissed the rumors as fiction, but was eventually compelled to seek out the book after facing setbacks in his plan. After consuming the souls of the second-rate sorcerers who protected it, Sikkatim opened its cover and read the first sentence, finding his worst fears about the future fulfilled. He continued to read enough to learn about the existence of the Wanderer and the Knowledge Dimension.[1]

The Wanderer eventually tracked the book to the Reborn Universe and to Sikkatim, whom she confronted on a desolate world. In a decision that surprised Sikkatim, the Wanderer elected not to reset his timeline nor rob him of the knowledge he had gained from the book, because his discoveries were "inconsequential". After confiscating the book, the Wanderer warned Sikkatim that she would be watching him, and left.[1]
