In the Dark Mirror Universe, Tahu was a member of the Toa Empire who was killed in the Battle at the Coliseum.

History[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Tahu was created by Artakha on his island early in the history of the Matoran Universe. Tahu and his five teammates, who were known collectively as the Toa Mata, were tasked with reawakening Mata Nui if he ever fell asleep and were trained for this mission by the Order of Mata Nui. Once the Toa Mata's training was complete, the Order put them into stasis in Toa Canisters in the Codrex until such a time when they would be needed.[1]

When Tuyet learned of the existence of the Toa Mata, she decided to find and awake them prematurely to add them to her Toa Empire. She gained the knowledge of their location from Artakha and sent teams of her own Toa to retrieve them, but none reported back from the expedition, so she looked into alternate means of recovering the Toa Mata instead. Eventually, she found a hidden area of the Coliseum from which she could fake the launch signal for the Toa Mata's Toa Canisters. Tuyet found the Toa when they washed ashore and manipulated them into believing that the only way to protect Mata Nui was to eliminate all threats to the Empire. The six Toa Mata were drafted into the Toa Empire and taken back to Metru Nui, where each individual member was assigned certain tasks across the city. Because there was no need for the Toa Mata as a team anymore, it subsequently ceased to exist.[1]

At some point, a statue of Tahu was erected in Metru Nui to honor his service to the Toa Empire.[2]

Dark Mirror[edit | edit source]

In 3500 ADP, Tahu and Kopaka were on patrol in Metru Nui when they encountered Takanuva, an unfamiliar Toa who seemed to recognize them. Tahu demanded to see Takanuva's identity tablet, but he did not have one,[2] so Tahu and Kopaka arrested him and threw him into a cell in the Coliseum. Tahu told his prisoner that someone would be back for him when Tuyet was ready to question him; Takanuva tried to ask his captors what was going on, but Tahu and Kopaka ignored him and left.[3]

Later, when Takanuva had escaped imprisonment and allied himself with Lesovikk, he expressed concerns to Lesovikk about meeting with Pohatu because of how his encounter with Tahu turned out, so Lesovikk asked Takanuva to trust him. Once Pohatu had revealed to Takanuva that he was a member of the resistance, Takanuva asked him how it was possible that Tahu was awake if Mata Nui was still conscious, so Pohatu told him how Tuyet had found the Toa Mata and drafted them into the Toa Empire.[1]

Tahu participated in the Battle at the Coliseum the following day. He was present in the eastern entrance to the Coliseum when he was attacked and killed by the Dark Hunter Primal.[4]

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

Elemental Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Fire Creation: Tahu could produce flames of varying size and intensity from his hands or through his Toa Tool.[5]
  • Fire Control: Tahu had complete control over fire, and could shape it, extinguish it or cause it to jump from one place to another.[5]
  • Fire Absorption: Tahu could absorb certain amounts of fire into his body, which became stored for use in future elemental attacks.[5]
  • Fire Nova Blast: In extreme circumstances, Tahu could have released all of his elemental energy in the form of a fiery nova blast, which would have been an explosion large enough to devastate an area the size of a large city.[5]

Mask Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Personal Forcefield Creation: When activated, Tahu's Kanohi Hau could generate a protective forcefield around himself that shielded him from visible attacks. However, it could not protect him from attacks that he was not aware of.[5]
