Control of Fire and Ice

Sympathy For The Devil is the Stand of Lucy Farr. It is an incredibly powerful Random-Type Stand with massive melee strength.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Like Cruel Angel's Thesis, Sympathy For The Devil possesses a bio-mechanical appearance, though leaning more heavily towards the mechanical side. It stands nearly half as high again as its user, Lucy, though it is highly likely that it can alter its height within reasonable perimeters, as evidenced by its ghostly nature - it can phase through Lucy's body, though it is unknown if it can do this with anyone else, or inanimate matter.

Sympathy For The Devil uses close-quarters attacks primarily, and possesses incredible speed in terms of both movement and attacking. Sympathy For The Devil's ability is to control both fire and ice, and it can imbue its fists with either of these elements. It can unleash blasts of these elements, which are dangerous, but not its specialty. Generally, Sympathy For The Devil fights by unleashing incredibly fast barrages of punches, usually imbued with the element of fire, which fits Lucy's personal preferences. Sympathy For The Devil can generate blades which extend from its forearms, and can similarly be imbued with either fire or ice. It can also fire a blast of propulsive fire from the rear of its forearms, which increases the velocity of its attacks.

Occasionally, Sympathy For The Devil may force its mouth open to shout its battle-cry of "ORA!". It does not appear to be acting under the influence of Lucy when it does this, hinting at some hidden level of self-control.

Naming[edit | edit source]

It is named for the The Rolling Stones song Sympathy For The Devil. This name also relates to Lucy Farr's - which is pun on Lucifer, who the song's title and lyrics refer to.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Sympathy For The Devil's battle-cry is taken straight from the character of Star Platinum from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (which is where the concept of Stands themselves originates from).
