Spoony

Noah Antwiler, also known as The Spoony One or just Spoony, is a member of the League of Super Critics. He was arrested for supplying drugs to Merasmus, but was reunited with Douge and Linkara when they were also arrested and sent to the same prison, Supermax 282. He escaped with the help of allies both old and new and went on to fight Bring the Pain Barry on Kråvenhold.

History[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Like many other members of the League, Spoony was raised on a constant dose of movies, comics and videogames. His passion for works of escapist fiction, as well as talking about said works, led him to make a review channel on YouTube. Over time, he gained a significant fanbase and was recruited into the League, where he met Doug Walker, Linkara, and Malcolm.

However, things weren't all sunshine and rainbows for Spoony. He fell on hard times and turned to drugs as a result. Although he didn't want to become a dealer, shortage of income forced him to sell a batch to Merasmus (though he also did it because he thought that the wizard's drug-fuelled rants were hilarious). Little did he know that the FBI were tracing the crack-addled wizard, and they launched a sting operation on Spoony's lair. He surrendered without a fight and was sentenced to prison in Supermax 282.

Supermax 282[edit | edit source]

In 150,084 CMT, Spoony was reunited with Douge and Linkara when they were arrested and sent to the same prison. He also met Seran Dol-Abi, Paul Latza, and Dr. Bedge, who had been travelling with them. For most of their stay, Spoony hung out with them, not doing much other than making the occasional pop culture reference.

Eventually, Spoony and the gang met up with Heavy and Agent 47, who were planning a breakout. He counted himself in. When the time came to put their plan into action, Spoony was one of the lucky few who made it to the exit lock in time. He piled onto a refuse collection truck that was leaving the space-prison along with Douge, Linkara, Latza, Dr. Bedge, Mortimer Moloch, Spanha, and JC Denton, but unfortunately for them all, the driver decided to disconnect the rear section to get rid of the extra "cargo" while in deep space. Spoony and the others were left floating in space, moments from death, but were saved just in time by Malcolm, who beamed them all onto his ship.

Battle Against Barry[edit | edit source]

Spoony was glad to see a familiar face in the form of Malcolm, and he decided that after the stressful day he had, he deserved a rest. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to get too comfortable before a new problem presented itself: Bring the Pain Barry had kidnapped 90s Kid and was holding him hostage somewhere on Kråvenhold. Spoony wearily agreed to tag along. Soon after they set foot on the surface of the planet, a local gryphon snatched Mortimer and led them to a nearby barn; fortunately, that same barn happened to be the one that was holding 90s Kid. Barry emerged from the barn and immediately attacked the group. Spoony grabbed Barry and flew him into the air, but the mean old man whacked him into the ground. The critic recovered and fought back for a while, but eventually Barry's pain was too much for him and he was punched out of the battle. In the end, it was Spanha who defeated Barry, though she likely wouldn't have been able to had Spoony not worn him down first. Spoony later got his revenge by knocking Barry out with a punch when they took him prisoner aboard Malcolm's ship.

The Mazkertis Paradox[edit | edit source]

Over two months after their adventure on Kravenhold, the critics landed on Sojourn V and bumped into the Dong Squad outside a bar.

Spoony watched in confusion as Doug Walker angrily confronted Ross Mandell, the man who stole Walker's $200,000 the previous year. BONES asked the Critics to identify themselves; Spoony complied by introducing himself first and then the other members of the League: Doug Walker, Linkara, Malcolm, Paul Latza, and Dr. Bedge. When Walker informed the Critics of Mandell's crime, they got into battle positions and prepared to fight the Dongers, but before the two teams could come to blows, a repulsive creature appeared and implored them not to fight. Despite being immediately assaulted by a group of nearby gangsters, the creature was determined to stay to make sure that the Dongers and Critics would put aside their differences. Linkara guessed that the creature would not leave until they had, so both teams agreed to play along, at least until the stranger had left.

Future[edit | edit source]

At the end of their adventures, the critics mused over what to do next. Malcolm rightfully pointed out that returning to Earth was a bad idea, because most of them were still listed as wanted criminals by the Galactic Government, and the government of the United States would likely hand them over to the Blackwatch Corporation if the Blackwatch requested it. Instead, Malcolm came up with another solution: Seek asylum on Tievie. They decided to give it a try, and to their surprise, the people of Tievie recognized them as celebrities and welcomed them with open arms. Spoony and the critics moved there and lived happily ever after (or so we think).

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Flight - Through unknown means, Spoony has the ability to fly. This is usually accompanied by the phrase "I'm gonna get you". What did he mean by this?
