Dr. Solana Esperon is a Takemikazuchi scientist who led an experiment to recover John Shepard's consciousness.

History[edit | edit source]

In 150,084 CMT, Dr. Esperon became the leader of a scientific research team stationed on the Covenant that aimed to salvage John Shepard's consciousness and contain it within a ball of antidermis. When Shinsengumi member Lucrezia Sephirah arrived on the Covenant to check on the project, Esperon went to meet her to fill her in on the project's status before her impressions could be shaped by what she saw in the laboatory. As the two women walked through the ship back towards the laboratory, Esperon noticed that there were two other battlecruisers, the Dominion and the Terminus, that had arrived outside, so she nervously asked Lucrezia if they were there to assist in the experiment. Lucrezia told Esperon that, on the contrary, they were there to take care of the aftermath if the experiment went horribly wrong.[1]

Upon reaching the laboratory, Lucrezia asked Esperon if there had been any change in the antidermis's status, so she checked and informed Lucrezia that there had been none. Satisfied that it was safe to continue, Lucrezia gave the order to begin the experiment. Esperon directed her team through each stage of the experiment, with the exception of the last one: when it had been confirmed that Shepard's consciousness had been fully recovered, Lucrezia gave the order to freeze the antidermis with protodermis jets. Shepard reached out with his mind to attack the scientists, but was contained before his attacks could reach Esperon, so she merely flinched upon witnessing the affected scientists' horror. Lucrezia then declared that the Covenant was now under the direct jurisdiction of the Shinsengumi, meaning that the scientists had to leave, but Esperon stayed to ask Lucrezia if the consciousness was really "him". Lucrezia confirmed that it was indeed Shepard, but added that she had no idea why Emperor Yetzirah wanted to recover him.[1]

Dr. Esperon presumably accompanied the rest of the ship's personnel in evacuating the Covenant in escape pods when Shepard activated the ship's self-destruct feature.[2]
