Pangaea Castle, also known as the Pinnacle of Mariejois, is the Galactic Government's central base of operations. Approximately the size of a small country, Pangaea Castle is an ancient, colossal metropolis that was constructed in the Void Millennium at the centre of the planet Mariejois soon after the Galactic Government was founded by the Gorosei. Pangaea Castle is considered one of the most secure and defensible locations in the entire Galactic Government, and is thus home to the five Gorosei, the current ruling Commander-in-Chief, and many of the Celestial Dragons that were descended from the original founders of the Galactic Government.

Description[edit | edit source]

Several Celestial Dragons inside Pangaea Castle

Despite being constructed in the Void Millennium, Pangaea Castle's architectural style resembles that of Neo-Baroque palaces built in the Victorian era on Earth. Though Pangaea Castle is indeed named and referred to as a 'castle' due to its brick-and-mortar construction and walled exterior, the interior of the Pinnacle is more comparable to a metropolis approximately the size of a small country. Pangaea Castle is a masterpiece not only from an architectural standpoint, but also an artistic one, with extreme attention to detail having been given to every corner of every building within the castle grounds. However, despite its massive size, only a few thousand Celestial Dragons, guards, servants, and other delegates currently reside in the Pinnacle, causing the beautiful castle to feel hauntingly empty; a feeling that is only empathized when the thick seasonal mists of Mariejois roll in.[1]

Countless marble statues of historical Celestial Dragons and other dignitaries related to the Galactic Government's history line the walls leading up to each of the Gorosei's chambers. Masahito Nakamura's chamber is located behind a massive set of double doors that are adorned with a massive golden 'G' and a plaque that reads 'Chamber of the Gorosei - Masahito Nakamura'. The crystal mountains of Mairejois are directly visible from the window of Nakamura's chamber, which is located atop one of the highest towers of the castle. A large raised platform that doubles as a courtyard connects this tower to several others.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

In 150,084 CMT (Day 56 of The Mazkertis Paradox arc), the Gorosei Masahito Nakamura broadcast a message from Pangaea Castle to inform the universe that his son, Akoran Zicks, had been terminated from his position as Commander-in-Chief of the Galactic Government because the Gorosei, the Reverie, the High Courts of Mariejois and many Celestial Dragons had deemed his attempt to dissolve the Galactic Government illegal. Nakamura added that Admiral Sakazuki had been appointed the new Commander-in-Chief in Zicks's place and concluded his announcement with the promise that Akoran Zicks would be brought to justice for his crimes.[2]

Meanwhile, Zicks was apprehended and handed over to a platoon of Judoon mercenaries, who received instructions to take Zicks to his father in Pangaea Castle on Mariejois. The Judoon completed their mission and took Zicks to Nakamura's chamber within the castle, where Nakamura himself met the Judoon and informed them that they would be paid for their successful transportation of the prisoner within the hour. Once the Judoon had left, Nakamura attempted to determine why Zicks had betrayed the Galactic Government. Zicks remained tight-lipped until he gleefully announced that he "shimmered", which Nakamura took as an indication that the Zicks in front of him originated from an alternate universe (because things from other universes vibrate at slightly different frequencies). Both of Nakamura's personal Psymancers then scanned Zicks's mind and confirmed that it was true.[2]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Pangaea Castle was originally named "Pinnacle" when Chapter 15: Beyond Time: The Search Begins was posted in December 2017. This was because Pinnacle was based on the unnamed castle that featured in Mariejois scenes in One Piece. When the castle's official name, "Pangaea Castle", was revealed in the One Piece manga in June 2018, Kon retconned the name "Pinnacle" as an alternate name for Pangaea Castle.
