Octopunch is an unfortunate Cybertronian who was convinced to leave HYDRA by Dirge.

History[edit | edit source]

In 150,082 CMT, Octopunch was one of the many Cybertronians who were recruited into HYDRA when Figlio di Armechio, Ra, Turel, and Vellt visited Cybertron and asked for soldiers to help them finish what Uterio started.[1] These Cybertronian converts mobilized to defend Figlio when the Platinum Lantern Corps attacked,[2] but stood down when Figlio was defeated and arrested.[3] Dirge then made an announcement where he declared that Figlio had been defeated and implored the Cybertronians to abandon Figlio's cause. Most of the Cybertronian converts were undeterred by Dirge's heartfelt message, but Octopunch and a few others believed Dirge and chose to join him instead.[4] Octopunch followed his new allies into a portal[5][6] that took them to the User HQ.[7] User MK suggested that the Lanterns should put Figlio in prison, much to Octopunch's delight,[8] but Perseus flew off with Figlio instead.[9]

Octopunch then left the company of the Platinum Lanterns, but found himself at a loss as to what to do with his life. He dared not risk returning to Cybertron because of the large HYDRA presence there who would recognize him as a traitor, so he instead travelled to a space station above Liquid-Metallicon in search of a new beginning. Unfortunately, he instead became indebted to one of the Pirate Lords of the planet below, and to make matters worse, he could not find a job to pay off his harassers because no-one wanted to hire an ex-Decepticon, nor could he escape to another system without his enemies knowing about it.[10]

In 150,084 CMT, Octopunch was at a bar on the space station when he was visited by Dirge, who Octopunch was not pleased to see, as he felt that Dirge was responsible for persuading him to leave HYDRA which had led to his current miserable situation. Dirge waived responsibility for Octopunch's poor life decisions, but offered Octopunch a reward large enough to pay off his debts if he provided intelligence about a Neo-Uterian group that was known to hang around Liquid-Metallicon. Moments after Octopunch pointed out one such Neo-Uterian Metalliconite to Dirge,[10] two enforcers of the Pirate Lord that Octopunch was indebted to approached him and demanded money. This resulted in Octopunch breaking a stool over one's back, before Dirge incapacitated both enforcers and left to meet with the Neo-Uterian across the room.[11]
