The Northern Continent was one of the major landmasses of the Matoran Universe.

History[edit | edit source]

Karzahni was built by the Matoran according to the Great Beings' specifications during the construction of the Matoran Universe.[1]

The Po-Matoran Kremika was created to inhabit the Northern Continent, but because there were too few Po-Matoran where he lived, Kremika did not have a specific elemental village to live in and thus never felt accepted as part of a community. It is mostly for this reason that Kremika left with Sequar when he arrived on the continent looking to recruit for the Order of Mata Nui.[2]

At around the time of the Matoran Civil War, Komerak fled to the Northern Continent because he was reluctant to relinquish his Toa power as part of his destiny. He lived in a village on the shore for some time before he encountered Rabot, Tanrus, and Naterohk, who had been shipwrecked close to his hut. Rabot noticed that Komerak was a Toa and asked him to join the team that he was putting together. Komerak accepted a place on the team because he desired purpose once more, but insisted that this Toa team did not travel further south than the Southern Continent on their adventures. Rabot agreed, so the four Toa left the Northern Continent together to search for more potential members.[3]

Blackout once took over a village on the Northern Continent by killing its Turaga with trysillic acid.[4]

In 100,080 CMT,[5] Blackout took over the Matoran Universe, brainwashed its Matoran, and ordered them to dismantle all of its buildings and use the materials to build Darkmount. It is unclear how much the Northern Continent was affected by this event. Blackout once stated that all beings that lived in the Matoran Universe had been transported onto Darkmount; this was untrue, but it is likely that some of the Northern Continent's population was taken aboard the city-ship.[6]

  2. Kremika (OU) (revision on 22:55, Feb 22, 2014): "Kremika was naturally created by the Great Beings as one of the Po-Matoran to inhabit the Northern Continent of the Matoran Universe. Because there was not a specific village for the Po-Matoran to live in as their number was too few, Kremika felt that he never really fit in anywhere for most of his life. This changed when an agent for the Order of Mata Nui named Sequar arrived on the continent, looking for new recruits to join the Order. Craving a new start, Kremika volunteered, and fit all of Sequar's eligibility tests. The two departed immediately for Daxia".
  3. Komerak (OU) (revision on 02:16, Aug 16, 2014): "Around the time of the Matoran Civil War, Komerak lived in a village on the shores of the Northern Continent, as far away from Taln as he could be. On one sleepless night, he heard the sound of wood smash and raised voices coming from the sea. Following the sounds, he saw three Toa: Rabot, Tanrus, and Naterohk, climb out of the wreckage of a small boat on the rocks of the beach [...] [Rabot] offered Komerak a place on his team, and he gladly accepted on the condition that they do not travel beyond the Southern Continent on their adventures. Rabot agreed".

  6. Darkmount (revision on 16:43, Feb 10, 2012): "When Blackout discovered that the Matoran Universe would soon become uninhabitable, he ordered every building to be disassembled and used the materials to build Darkmount. [...] Malygos later teleported to it, and asked about the whereabouts of the Homunculi, the necromancers of Scholomance, and the Metru Nui Matoran. Blackout responded by saying that all the beings in the Matoran Universe now lived onboard Darkmount."
