"WE'RE NOT DOING THE SUPERVILLAIN SHUFFLE!"
Malcolm to the League of Super Critics[1]

Malcolm is a member of the League of Super Critics who was summoned to rescue them in the aftermath of Supermax 282.

History[edit | edit source]

Time to Shuffle[edit | edit source]

In 150,084 CMT, the League of Super Critics escaped from Supermax 282 inside the waste container of a refuse collection ship. However, Koranis, who had commandeered the ship, detached the container from the vehicle and left the Critics to drift away into space.[2] Seran Dol-Abi suggested that they use a communicator to call for help,[3] so Doug Walker called Malcolm and asked him to rescue them. Malcolm arrived in his ship soon afterwards, then brought the container aboard with a tractor beam and came out of the cockpit to greet them. Malcolm was pleased to see his old friends Linkara and Spoony again, but pleaded with them not to do the "Supervillain Shuffle".[1]

The Search for 90s Kid[edit | edit source]

Malcolm's ship then received an ominous transmission from Bring the Pain Barry: a hologram of himself tormenting 90s Kid, another old ally of the League of Super Critics.[4] The Critics (that now included Malcolm) unanimously voted to rescue 90s Kid, so Malcolm determined the origin point of the signal, Kråvenhold, and flew his ship there.[5] Moments after the Critics had landed on the planet, Mortimer was snatched by a gryphon and flown into a nearby village. Malcolm and his allies chased the gryphon into the village,[6] but it became clear that one of their own was not fit for battle: JC Denton, whose legs had been slashed by Koranis back on Supermax 282. Dr. Bedge stated that he could not heal Denton's legs without a medkit, so Malcolm asked one of the villagers where he could find one,[7] but the villager simply suggested amputation instead.[8]

The Critics then heard crashing noises and maniacal laughter coming from a nearby barn, which made the villagers flee in terror.[8] The League gathered that Barry was near, so Malcolm helped Paul Latza to search for a weapon. Barry then revealed himself and charged at the Critics,[9] which must have made Malcolm flee in terror, because he was not present for the battle and Doug announced that he would tell Malcolm about their victory.[10]

Malcolm was back aboard his ship when DU Monarch appeared and kidnapped Spanha. He heard the commotion and went outside to investigate, but found that he was too late.[11] Because Barry had been defeated and Spanha had been kidnapped, the Critics decided that it was time to move on from Kravenhold. Mortimer and JC chose to stay to search for Randolph Moloch, but Malcolm left with the others aboard his ship.[12]

The Mazkertis Paradox[edit | edit source]

On Day 76 of The Mazkertis Paradox arc, Malcolm, Doug, Spoony, Linkara, Bedge, and Latza bumped into Ross Mandell and BONES outside a bar on Sojourn V. Doug recognized Mandell as the man who stole his $200,000 and prepared to fight him, so Malcolm quipped that it was "time to shuffle" as the Critics assumed battle positions. However, before blows could be exchanged, a freakish creature named Xavier appeared and implored them not to fight because it was their destiny to like each other. Linkara suggested that they play along, because he had a feeling that Xavier would not leave until he was satisfied.[12]
