Lord Kass is the Eyrie leader of the Darigan Citadel on the planet Neopia. With the help of Makuta Bitil, Kass has become one of the most powerful beings on the planet.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Kass has wide wings of jagged black feathers, a griffon-like visage and tail, and cold red eyes. A pair of hooks protrude up from the lower half of his dull silver beak, like teeth, while his hands are scaly, crisscrossed with scars, and ended by massive gray talons. He usually wears a full set of black armor, with white-silver filligree and a tyrian red sash, while on his hip is a sword, solid black in hilt and sheath.

While in meetings, Kass wears a black coat with three rows of silver buttons up the chest, fang-lined pauldrons capped by some kind of Medieval crests - Four split squares, two black, two white, and with the image of a tyrian purple bird of prey spreading its wings on the front. He adds a black sabre with platinum filligree as a badge of office to his tyrian purple sash.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Kass is ruthless and cunning, determined to do whatever it takes to elevate his power. He prides himself on his own charm and his ability to gravitate others to his cause using the right words, but his tendency to overestimate his own abilities is looking to be a major weakness.

History[edit | edit source]

Kass was once a general in the armies of Lord Darigan on the planet Neopia. Following the disappearance of Darigan, Kass was contacted by Makuta Bitil, who encouraged him to seize control of Darigan's armies and conquer the rest of the planet. Kass happily obliged, and began working on schemes of conquest with his servant Gardenia. Bitil and his accomplices provided Kass with assets and intelligence to help him reach his goal; in return, Kass awarded him the title of Judgemaster. The first of Kass's schemes involved filling a device called a Cauldron with 99 innocent souls to conjure enough dark magic to destroy the Kingdom of Greendel's castle. He also had Gardenia poison the Treasurer of Darigan Citadel so that their ally Galbranth could assume the position.

Later that night, Kass arranged a meeting with Viceroys Nephdel and Galgaroth to elect a new leader of the Darigan Citadel. Galgaroth worked out what Kass was planning and lashed out at him, so Kass had him forcibly removed and thrown off the edge of the Citadel. The cowardly Nephdel decided that he had no choice but to follow Kass's command, who declared to him that he will now be addressed only as "Lord Kass". Nephdel left to start production on Kass's propaganda campaign.

Kass immediately gave ultimatums to other prominent members of the Citadel's government: join him, or never see the light of day again. When he returned to his war room, his double agent informed him that Senators Wing and Deringer pledged loyalty to him, while Swain, who did not, was locked in the dungeon. In addition, she planted evidence that would frame Chief Warden Vex as a murderer and speed up his replacement. Kass congratulated her, and when she left, he spoke to Bitil again.

However, Galgaroth survived his fall, and escaped to Greendel to warn King Hagan of Kass's increasing power. They discovered that Kass had been ordering his agent to steal Greendel's battle plans and find weaknesses in their leaders. In addition, Brynn's research seemed to suggest that it was Kass who disposed of Lord Darigan in the first place. Here it was revealed that Darigan is still alive, but incapacitated and kept in an unknown location.

Back at the Citadel, Kass instructed Gardenia to capture Skarl's Court Alchemist alive, since he needed to extract the information from her via torture.
