In Niflheim's World, Hell is a spiritual dimension that exists outside of time and space.

History[edit | edit source]

In 150,084 CMT, Niflheim was fighting a battle in the Hell of his universe when he was suddenly "knocked out of" reality and transported to an entirely different dimension altogether: the Hell connected to the Original Universe.[1] When Bel confronted Nif for trespassing in the "domain of Mephistroth",[2] Nif speculated that he must have been transported to a different Hell because Mephistroth was not the ruler of the Hell he was familiar with. Nif explained to Bel that his arrival had been an accident,[3] so Bel decided to take Nif before Mephistroth to see whether the demon king would deem Nif worthy of his aid.[4] Mephistroth decided to help Nif[5] and took him to a portal chamber. When Mephistroth asked Nif where he wanted to be transported to, Nif replied "A spaceport or some place so I could learn where the hell I'm at" instead of requesting that Mephistroth transport him directly back to his own universe. Mephistroth complied with Nif's request and set the coordinates of a portal to lead to an Original Universe spaceport, but the interference of the Heller meant that the portal ended up taking Nif to Supermax F███ B█████ instead.[6]

When Nif did not return from his mission to Hell, his close friend Mina Bjork visited the Hell (of Niflheim's World) to investigate what had happened to him. The evidence she discovered there made it seem like Nif had simply disappeared mid-battle. Confused, Mina projected her consciousness across the Dreamscape in every timestream in case he had travelled backwards or forwards in time somehow, and located Nif's consciousness within the Original Universe's Dreamscape over two months later (Day 76 of The Mazkertis Paradox arc). Once she had established contact with Nif's consciousness, Mina shared her theory as to how he had ended up in the Original Universe in the first place: that the timeline of Niflheim's World had been changed somehow, but because Nif was in Hell - a dimension that exists outside of time - when the change occurred, he was thrown into a different timeline altogether (the Original Universe) when he was "knocked out of" Hell. Mina then explained that it was likely that Nif needed to focus on a 'constant' - a concept present in both universes that he had a deep emotional connection to - in order to safely return home without his consciousness being torn apart. Mina thought that Nif's 'constant' should be his friends, so she suggested that he find and enlist the help of the Original Universe's versions of her and some of his other allies, such as Drepp and EEEEEE.[7]
