The "Heavy" was a Russian man who once tried to blackmail Doug Walker for a sum of $200,000, kicking off an elaborate search for the money that lasted several years.

History[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

In the G:1960s, Heavy was one of nine mercenaries (including Soldier and Sniper) on a previous Earth who contributed their genetic code to a mysterious cloning project. In return, each of the mercenaries were given back-mounted life extension machines that stopped their cells from aging and granted them virtual immortality. One of the clones of Heavy that resulted from this project was Pootisman, who was exiled into the galactic community.[1]

In 150,082 CMT, Heavy started to blackmail Doug Walker with some incriminating evidence of an unknown nature, forcing Walker to open a misleading Kickstarter campaign to raise the $200,000 that Heavy demanded from him.[2] Walker claimed in the campaign that the $200,000 would be used to improve the quality of his internet skits, motivating his fanbase to raise the money in record time. Once the accumulated $200,000 had been transferred to Walker and collected in cash, Heavy sent a courier to meet with Walker on Wall Street and collect the money. However, Ross Mandell caught wind of this exchange before it happened and intercepted the courier that Heavy had sent, knocking them unconscious and stealing their clothes. When Walker arrived on Wall Street, he met with the disguised Mandell and mistakenly assumed that Mandell was the courier because he matched the description that Heavy had given him. Walker handed the 'courier' the briefcase with the $200,000 and asked if the payment settled his debt with Heavy, but was punched unconscious by Mandell in response, who then escaped with the money.[3]

Supermax 282[edit | edit source]

By 150,084 CMT, Heavy had been arrested and imprisoned in Supermax 282. Heavy had allied himself with a resourceful fellow inmate named Agent 47 and was in the middle of preparing to break out of the prison with him when Heavy heard that, by sheer coincidence, Doug Walker and his friends had just been transported to the very same prison. While Heavy informed Agent 47 that he also required Walker to escape with them in order to collect Walker's $200,000, Heavy walked over to the table that Walker was sitting at to greet his old debtor. It was then that the horrified Walker revealed to Linkara and Spoony that Heavy was the one who had been blackmailing him for money. Heavy made it clear that he did not believe that Ross Mandell would have impersonated his courier and stolen the $200,000; instead believing that Walker had stashed the money somewhere and lied about the incident. Changing the subject slightly, Heavy instructed Walker, his friends, and whatever allies they had made within the prison to meet him in a maintenance closet during recreation hour that evening to discuss their upcoming escape.[2]

That evening, Heavy was surprised to see a large turnout of prisoners in the maintenance closet: Agent 47, Dr. Amasiv Bedge, Doug Walker, JC Denton, Linkara, Mortimer Moloch, Paul Latza, Seran Dol-Abi, Spanha, and Spoony. Heavy then barricaded the door of the maintenance closet with a lead pipe to ensure that no guards or other, unaligned prisoners could eavesdrop on the meeting, and detailed his plan to escape from Supermax 282. Heavy explained to the gathered prisoners that each of them would have to remain in the maintenance closet until after the end of recreation hour and sneak undetected to the cell block's kitchen - the hardest part of the plan, because the guards would realize by that time that the prisoners had not returned to their cells and would begin to search the recreation area. Heavy added that, if the prisoners managed to reach the kitchen undetected, they would hide themselves in trashcans, which would then be loaded onto a Gabagool Incorporated garbage disposal ship and transported to an extraterrestrial dumping ground.[4]

The prisoners all agreed to follow the plan and remained in the maintenance closet past recreation hour. When Heavy opened the closet door and started to lead the prisoners across the mess hall towards the kitchen, Dr. Pavel followed them and offered to join them, for he had also decided not to return to his cell and was seeking a means of escape himself. Heavy allowed Dr. Pavel to accompany them and led the group into blind spots and behind tables to avoid detection. Moments after the last of the allied prisoners had stepped inside the kitchen, the prison staff noticed that numerous prisoners were missing from their cells and raised the alarm, activating bulkhead doors that sealed off every room in the block, leaving the allied prisoners trapped inside the kitchen unless they could find the hidden entrance to the docking bay.[5]

Heavy was then tackled by Koranis, yet another prisoner who had arrived in the kitchen before them as part of his own plan to escape. The loud brawl between Heavy and Koranis in the kitchen alerted the guards outside to the prisoners' presence in the kitchen, prompting them to open the bulkhead door to the kitchen. Heavy immediately tried to jam the bulkhead door mechanism with a pipe to prevent it from opening fully, but the bulkhead crushed the pipe and retracted into the ceiling regardless, allowing waves of guards to storm into the kitchen.[5] In the battle that followed, Heavy used his raw strength to subdue all the guards who charged at him until he noticed Koranis open the hidden passageway that led to the docking bay, at which point he acted as a human wall to buy the others time to escape.[6] (Though this looked like Heavy was performing a self-sacrificial act at the time, Heavy's priority was for Agent 47 and Doug Walker to escape the prison so that 47 could use Walker to locate the $200,000 for Heavy on the outside. Heavy's own escape from Supermax 282 was a secondary concern to him.)[1]

Guards began to pile on top of Heavy,[7] but the intervention of a spy drone constructed by JC Denton[8] helped Heavy to throw them off and regain his footing. Heavy then reached inside a fridge and found a Buffalo Steak Sandvich, which empowered him enough to continue to battle the guards despite their overwhelming numbers.[9] One of the guards that Heavy punched was killed with a critical hit,[10] but this enabled JC Denton to pick up Mortimer Moloch and escape with him through the hidden passageway.[11] Once Heavy was sure that Agent 47 and Doug Walker had escaped through the hidden passageway, he closed the entrance by moving the fridge that concealed the passageway back into place, buying 47 and Walker some extra time but sacrificing his own chance to escape.[12] However, Heavy soon found that, though his plan had led to the escape of numerous prisoners including Doug Walker, Agent 47 had been recaptured and returned to his cell[13] before he had a chance to escape aboard the garbage disposal ship, meaning that Heavy's plan to have 47 retrieve the $200,000 had ultimately failed.[1]

On Day 56 of The Mazkertis Paradox arc, Strika freed all the prisoners on Supermax 282's Cell Block D. Agent 47 was one of them, but it remains to be seen if he will honor his agreement with Heavy and continue to search for the $200,000 on Heavy's behalf.[14]
