"I'm sorry, Jon. I was so hungry."
Garfielf to Jon Arbuckle[1]

Garfielf was a ravenous entity that appeared to be a memetic mutation of a house cat from Earth.

History[edit | edit source]

In 150,084 CMT (Day 55 of The Mazkertis Paradox arc), the reign of Garfielf began when he consumed his house on Earth and left to travel across the cosmos. His human owner, Jon Arbuckle, discovered Garfielf's crime when he awoke to find that every surface in his home had been covered with a layer of ginger fur that was accentuated with black, jagged stripes. Jon made his way downstairs to the kitchen, where Garfielf manifested a face in the wall to apologize to Jon for being "so hungry". Jon shouted desperately at the face, but Garfielf teleported both him and his house back to Earth and continued on his journey. Garfielf then vowed to destroy the others who claimed to have insatiable hunger, such as Pumkin, Hungry-man, and the prophesied Man from Another Place, whose existence threatened his lasaga and quest for more of thos; food.[1]

On Day 56, Garfielf consumed JL-511, an uninhabited planet that the Silver Surfer had selected to feed to his master, Galactus. The debris left over from the planet's destruction had become a small asteroid field, so Garfielf was in the process of consuming the leftovers when the Silver Surfer arrived and discovered what had happened. The shocked Surfer ordered Garfielf to declare his power in the name of Galactus, but Garfielf was too busy gorging on the asteroids to notice. Garfielf finally turned his attention to the Surfer once he had decimated the asteroid field, but only because the Surfer was something else to eat. He opened his mouth and consumed both the Surfer and his surfboard, then wrapped himself up in a blanket he had brought with him and took a nap as he drifted through space.[2]

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Cosmic Hunger: Garfielf was similar to cosmic entities such as Unicron and Galactus in that he seemed to be able to effortlessly consume near-infinite amounts of matter. However, it is unknown if Garfielf did this because he needed to to survive, or because he desired to.[2]
  • Teleportation: Garfielf demonstrated the ability to teleport objects across great distances when he teleported Jon Arbuckle and his former home back to Earth.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The scene where Jon discovers that Garfielf has consumed their home was inspired by this unofficial comic.
  • Garfielf's name and some of his quotes and mannerisms were inspired by this video and the associated Garfielf meme.
