Daft Punk is a French electronic music duo consisting of android musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. Daft Punk reached significant popularity on Earth in the late 1990s house movement and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop, techno and later funk and jazz. Being robots, they are essentially immortal, and thus are still alive in the present setting of BZPB, serving as members of the mysterious techno-ecclesiastic organization Le Knight Club. They moonlight as DJs at secret nightclub on Liquid-Metallicon known as the Indo Silver Club.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Both members of Daft Punk are completely silent, communicating only with nods. They are excellent DJs and also possess extensive skill at creating artificial machine bodies, which John Shepard contracted them to do.

History[edit | edit source]

"We did not choose to become robots. There was an accident in our studio. We were working on our sampler, and at exactly 9:09 am on September 9, 1999, it exploded. When we regained consciousness, we discovered that we had become robots."
Thomas Bangalter, one half of Daft Punk

Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, better known as Daft Punk, were once a human electronic music duo based in Paris, France, Earth. They reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop, techno and later funk and jazz. However, their real breakout did not occur until 1999 AD (150,068 CMT of the Current Multiversal Timeline), which is when an accident involving a 909 synthesizer turned them into fully robotic beings. Daft Punk's makeover was wildly successful, catapulting them into fame across the planet.

At some point, Daft Punk became members of, or even founded, Le Knight Club, a techno-ecclesiastic organization devoted to the acquisition, development and advancement of technology. Le Knight Club caught the attention of John Shepard, who was, at that time, the leader of the Zion Cluster, an organization with similar beliefs. Daft Punk and Shepard became allies, though the exact nature of their allegiance during this period is unknown.

By 150,084 CMT, Daft Punk had moved to Liquid-Metallicon and set up a secret nightclub called the Indo Silver Club. When Shepard was revived by the Takemikazuchi Empire, he travelled to the Indo Silver Club to enlist Daft Punk's help in creating a new robotic body for him to occupy. The mere mention of his name was enough to get Shepard into Daft Punk's private lounge, where he met with the two robots and gave them the desired specifications of his new body. Of course, Daft Punk still expected payment, so Shepard offered to part with the central computer core of his stolen Takemikazuchi ship in return. Daft Punk agreed, and immediately got to work.[1]
