The Dachori Empire, also known as the Rider Empire, was an ancient civilization that is generally agreed to have been formed in 4582 BR and dissolved in 1500 BR. Over the course of the Empire's 3,000+ year history, the Riders conquered vast swaths of the galaxy, and even "discovered" various systems. Because of the extensive reach and influence of the Empire, the Dachori significantly impacted the scientific, cultural, and political development of countless peoples, forever leaving a mark on the galaxy.

History[edit | edit source]

In 4582 BR, Tenugin finally quashed whatever resistance was left to his plan to unify the Dachori homeworld, known as Shinar-Karana.

Fall[edit | edit source]

Galactic historians are divided on the exact date of the fall of the Dachori Empire. A plurality asserts that it collapsed in 1500 BR, when Cagnazzo il Verduro (then known by a different surname) decided to use the Craft of Laigula on the Dachori capital planet and wipe out the Empire's leadership. Such a betrayal has been attributed to Caganzzo becoming disillusioned with the Riders after centuries of war, and with signs of the Dachori's impending collapse becoming evident during their conflict with the Vrai, the Phantom Lords, Dantos Col, and other allies. Other historians believe that the Dachori Empire did not truly "collapse" until the last Rider warlord, Izaro di Faizorra, was defeated by intergalactic forces in 1526 BR.

Either way, after both landmark defeats, countless Dachori were imprisoned or tranquilized and enslaved like animals. There are also various records that indicate that the Vrai, the Phantom Lords, and the Dantos Col had attempted to commit genocide against the Riders after the military was destroyed. Those that had escaped such cruel acts found themselves scattered throughout the galaxy, some Dachori even attempting to be taken in as refugees by the Fall of Cluster Empire and the Agrippa.

Centuries passed, and as the barbaric institution of intergalactic slavery began to be outlawed in many systems (save for a notable number that still engage in the trade to this day), many Dachori saw their monetary wealth restored through reparations or savvy business deals. Most of the surviving population rejected the warlike behavior they and their ancestors had engaged in, instead deciding to become ordinary galactic citizens. This, combined with the traumas that were inflicted upon the Riders after the dissolution of their state, resulted in a dramatically low birth rate, which is why the Dachori are considered a minority species in the universe and are often difficult to find.

Others began to reject normal life, but were not keen to become warriors. Cagnazzo and Serecio di Romulo, for example, chose other, less ethical lifestyles: the former became a criminal, and the latter became a mad scientist.

However, a minority of Dachori remembered their days of glory or at least were told of such times by their ancestors. These few, such as Uteriach di Armechio, aimed to restore the Dachori Empire and rule the galaxy yet again.

Religion[edit | edit source]

The religion of the Riders was largely complex, boasting many gods and goddesses. Some of them include:

  • Soluvoz, chief god and lord of war.
  • Volasinia, goddess of the sun and stars and wife of Soluvoz.
  • Stáks, god of the void and space, keeper of the underworld (Dishabaliser), and father of Volasinia.
  • Malanella, goddess of fire and sister to Soluvoz.
  • Atanase, god of the sciences and son of Soluvoz and Volasinia.
  • Gabían, god/goddess of time, represented as an androgynous entity.
  • Egalítéri, personification of Dachori "justice," represented as both genders.
  • Vientix, god of weathers and atmospheres of worlds, son of Volasinia and half-brother of Atanase (believed to have origins as a foreign deity imported to the Rider religion).
  • Eurerios, god of order, father of Soluvoz, brother of Gabían.
  • Lobodracca, goddess of discord, mother of Soluvoz. Said to be the cause of all misfortune.
  • Parrasio, goddess of love, comfort, and wealth, daughter of Soluvoz and Volasinia, lover of Aval.
  • Aval, god of festivals, ceremonies, and celebration, lover of Parrasio.
  • Tenugin, the first emperor of the Riders (ascended to divinity due to his accomplishments), god of legislation.
