Cassandra Cromwell is an agent of the Vongolan People's Republic who controls multiple gyndroid bodies to be a one-woman army.

History[edit | edit source]

Cassandra Cromwell was born on Vongola to a family that traced its lineage to Elijah Cromwell, the RBU counterpart of Bravarius. Much of the information on her life is classified and shrouded in mystery. However, many know that she became a part of the royal military in the Kingdom of Vongola sometime around 6 BR.

Cassandra showed great promise during her military career and developed into a fine soldier. She eventually joined the Kingdom's intelligence agency, working as a spy and--when necessary--an assassin. Over time, she began to grow disillusioned with her work and found herself recruited into a secret dissident cell inside of the intelligence agency. The cell's operatives were in league with Uteriach di Armechio and his coup plotters, so Cassandra ultimately pledged her undying loyalty to the revolution.

Once the coup was finally carried out, Cassandra demonstrated such loyalty by becoming a full-fledged VPR special force operative. She carried out numerous missions, including assassinations of anyone involved in Thomas Phaedrus Kane's attempted government-in-exile and any other rebellious factions on Vongola.[1]

But Cassandra faced the ultimate test about a year later, during the Vongolan Civil War. She was severely wounded in a brutal mission, losing her ability to walk and forcing her to pilot a hover wheelchair. Cassandra was offered a chance to retire, but she pressed to continue her service to the VPR. Rather than accept robotic legs or other available enhancements, she decided to volunteer for an experimental program developed by a team of Vongolan, Lurian, and even Tanari scientists (back when they were all on the same side). After much experimentation, the program was a stunning success. Cassandra could now link herself to an advanced neural shunt and sensory pod at Whispering Willows base and remote pilot a gyndroid copy of herself into battle. The VPR increased production on these bodies, turning her into a one-woman army.

Resurgence[edit | edit source]

Years later, Cassandra fought against the Diamond Dogs at the Battle of Adorra.[2] She was eventually subdued, where Gerald Arwell asked her to relay a message to Generalissimo Figlio di Armechio regarding his father's imprisonment on Vonilla.[3] After her gyndroid "sleeve" "died", she reported the information to her handlers, who contacted Figlio. It was there that Figlio and Arwell formed a temporary alliance to break Uteriach from his underwater prison.

Cassandra was handpicked to be a part of the prison break, joining Arwell, the Diamond Dogs, mercenaries, and--unbeknownst to Cassandra--Malchiorian ex-spy Hercules Splendor. After a tense meeting, the team set off to Vonilla, navigating a treacherous path to the Generalissimo's cell.

Personality and Abilities[edit | edit source]

Cassandra is fiercely loyal to the VPR, especially to Generalissimo Uteriach di Armechio. Although she has some reservations about Figlio, she nonetheless would follow him into as many deaths as possible. She displays a disdainful, sardonic, and even sometimes sadistic attitude towards her enemies, as displayed when she taunted the Diamond Dogs during the Battle of Adorra. This sometimes results in her downfall, as she can get too cocky. Nevertheless, Cassandra often behaves warmly to those with whom she finds a common cause.

Thanks to her many missions for the VPR, Cassandra has become notorious on Vongola, instilling fear into many rebels' hearts. She seems to know some of the Diamond Dogs, referring to some like Dreis by their first names.

When linked into one of her robotic bodies, Cassandra possesses heightened strength, speed, agility, accuracy, and durability. This was evident during Adorra, where, despite bleeding blue gyndroid fluid, she was able to hold her own in a fight against Holbach. Her vision is connected to monitors back at her base, where her handlers monitor nearly everything that she is observing. However, every time her "sleeves" are destroyed, she experiences severe pain. She is often forced to take a break between missions at the recreational facilities Whispering Willows base to prevent cerebral overload.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Cassandra's link to gyndroids is a reference to what would have been one of the twists of BZPB: Unending: that the Unending version of Cromwell was - unbeknownst to her - actually a robot developed by Apolion Industries for a nefarious purpose.
  • Sources of inspiration for Cassandra Cromwell include The Superior from Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, the trailers for Altered Carbon, and (perhaps subconsciously and/or unintentionally) Major Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell.
