Brendan Fraser is a former film star who fled to Oquro in search of a peaceful death when his life and career were ruined in a turbulent divorce from his ex-wife.

History[edit | edit source]

Life on Earth[edit | edit source]

Brendan Fraser was once a famous American film star whose career came crashing down following a tumultuous divorce from his ex-wife, who not only gained custody of his three children, but also convinced a judge to rule that he had to continually pay her unreasonable amounts of alimony to maintain her frivolous lifestyle.[1] In addition, his ex-wife and her associates slandered his name across the galaxy, causing him to be listed in numerous criminal databases as a criminal responsible for various economic crimes with a cash reward offered for his capture.[2] These events cost Fraser many of his friends and he began to spiral into depression as a result,[1] so he joined Dr. Gino DiGiannantonio's JFMSU Headquarters in search of help.[3] Dr. Gino befriended Fraser and even gave him a free haircut in an attempt to cheer him up, but the awfulness of the haircut only worsened his depression.[1]

Arrival on Oquro[edit | edit source]

In 150,084 CMT, Fraser decided that there was nothing left for him on Earth, so he called in a favor with Joseph Heller and asked him to send him to a habitable, faraway planet where he could live out the rest of his days in peace away from his ex-wife's lawyers. Heller obliged with Fraser's request and sent him through a portal that took him to Oquro, but Fraser found that it was a dark, barren, and lifeless planet unlike the prosperous plane that he had been promised. He then noticed a sinister Black Cloud over the horizon that seemed to be dropping pods of some sort over the surface and decided to investigate.[1]

Unknown to Fraser, the mercenaries Tayne and Crikey Shqwertiyul had followed him to Oquro to collect the bounty on his head. The mercenaries landed behind him and ordered him to surrender,[4] but before he could respond, a Cooperative dropship flew overhead and dropped a Trilagon, the Kraken, in front of him, who immediately destroyed a cluster of spore pods and some ghouls that lurched toward them.[5] Fraser was overcome by fear at the proceedings and tried to flee the moment Tayne's back was turned, but the ground beneath his feet collapsed and he plunged into an underground pool. To make matters worse, his appearance in the pool disturbed a dormant ghoul, who awoke and attacked Fraser. Fraser prayed that the ghoul would disintegrate and die as he remembered the happiest moments of his life - but to his surprise, the ghoul disintegrated just like he had wished it would. This reminded Fraser of when Dr. Gino had told another JFMSU member, Hide the Pain Harold, to bottle his pain to be released on others later, prompting Fraser to wonder if that was what just happened to the ghoul.[3]

Fraser tested his theory by channelling negative emotions towards more ghouls that appeared in front of him, which caused their bodies to also collapse and fall apart. He was then joined again by Tayne, Crikey, and the Kraken, the latter of whom informed the others that they had fallen into a sewer network that would lead them to his destination: the TechnoDyne building.[6] Because Fraser was still in shock and he wanted to find shelter above all else, he decided to follow the aliens through the sewers.[7][8] When Too R. Isst and Alex appeared in front of them and each accused the other of being a ghoul,[7] Fraser used his JUST power on Alex,[8] which revealed him as a ghoul and caused him to disintegrate. Too R. Isst joined the ragtag group[9] as they proceeded through the sewers in search of shelter at the TechnoDyne building.[10]

Through a conversation with Crikey and Tayne, Fraser learned the reason for their interest in him and decided to stick with them for better chances of survival, because he did not want to experience a slow and painful death on Oquro surrounded by ghouls. When the five of them reached the underside of the TechnoDyne building, the Kraken ripped out the floor to create a direct path for them to walk up and into the building.[11] However, mere moments after they entered the building, an injured Lucy Farr flew through the wall in front of them, followed by the appearance of David Dalton, who challenged the Kraken to a fight.[12] Fraser ran for cover and decided that he would sit the battle out when he sensed Dalton's incredible power.[13]

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

  • JUST Manipulation: Somehow, Brendan Fraser has gained the ability to weaponize his own emotional pain and project it into others as a form of attack. Individuals that Fraser has used this power on involuntarily recall painful memories of their own and experience extreme emotional pain, which often causes them to lose control of bodily functions and soil themselves, or in the case of the deceased (ghouls), causes their bodies to break apart and disintegrate.[3][6][8]
