This article is about the member of the Brotherhood of Makuta. For the similarly-named citizen of BZPower, see User ~Bitil~.

Bitil was an extremely long-lived member of the Brotherhood of Makuta.

History[edit | edit source]

Makuta Bitil[edit | edit source]

Bitil was one of the Makuta who participated in the Vrai War when it ravaged the Matoran Universe, fighting alongside Caiaphus on the battlefield on at least one occasion.[1]

Over 149,000 years later, Bitil continued to be a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta under Blackout's command, appearing aboard a Makuta Space Station when John Sheppard and Rodney McKay crashed into the station in their Puddle Jumper. Bitil reacted to the intruders by punching through the Puddle Jumper's windshield, but they responded by firing a drone weapon at Bitil's head, which seemingly incapacitated the Makuta for some time.[2]

In 150,080 CMT, Bitil was one of the Makuta who teleported onto the new Darkmount that Blackout summoned from another dimension during the Battle of BZPower. Bitil moved into Blackout's control room and reassured Blackout that Zev Raregroove would not be a problem for him for much longer because he had taken the liberty of calling in an "old friend" to go after him. When Blackout said "Wait. You're not saying..." Bitil replied "Yes. I called in her", which prompted Blackout to comment "He's doomed".[3] However, this 'female spy' fled when Zev concentrated a large amount of Spiral Power into the Sōja and performed a Giga Drill Break that destroyed many of her ships.[4]

Corrupting Kass[edit | edit source]

By 150,082 CMT, Bitil had travelled to the planet Neopia and had begun to influence Lord Kass, a general of the Darigan Citadel, to usurp Darigan and expand his rule by conquering the neighboring Kingdom of Greendel. Bitil became invested in Kass's success and appeared to him sporadically to provide advice and threats as motivation. By this time, Bitil seemed to have been severely damaged or injured in some way, possessing a crumpled and rusted appearance with pitted armor and shredded wings. When Gardenia arrived in the tower to inform Kass that the Cauldron was nearly operational, Bitil hid in the shadows at the corner of the room until she left, at which point he emerged to talk to Kass. Bitil warned Kass: "Should you fail, nothing is keeping me from allowing my accomplices to rip out from your existence everything they gave you", adding that he should "be thankful that Gorast... has yet to recover". Kass replied "Worry not, Honorable Judgemaster Bitil... the sun of this world has set in my hands".[5] Later, Bitil warned Kass not to trust the Zafara Double Agent, saying "Beware those who betray their masters, Kass. They very well may betray you, as well".[6]

Later still, Bitil informed Kass of the existence of a book of potions in a library in Brightvale that could be used to create a poison that would incapacitate Illusen. In response to this knowledge, Kass sent the Zafara Double Agent to retrieve the book, while Gardenia instructed her in the creation of the potion. Bitil continued to lurk unseen in the shadows of Kass's tower when Gardenia and Nephdel arrived to report the status of the ongoing coup. After they left, Bitil reminded the egotistical Kass that he was the one who informed him of the book's existence and that the Zafara Double Agent was the one who fetched it, saying "A leader is nothing without those competent individuals he directs". When Kass reacted by calling Bitil a "hollow shade" and boasting that there was nothing that could stop him, Bitil imparted the following words of advice: "Do not let the pride which drives you become the arrogance which fells you".[7]

Return to the Brotherhood[edit | edit source]

By 150,084 CMT, Bitil had returned to the Brotherhood of Makuta. After Malygos's ascension was reversed by the Users, Bitil contacted Barricade to inform him that the Brotherhood's magically-tuned agents were reporting that the universe's magical leylines had been restored. When Bitil asked if the Brotherhood should proceed with uniting their forces, Barricade replied "Of course. The Dominion is weak. We can take this opportunity to become the dominant power again. That's what Blackout would want, is it not?".[8]

Bitil was stationed aboard the Pale Fire during the Battle of Stelta-Stal. When Starok and SM Kakamu teleported onto the bridge[9] and sealed it off from the rest of the ship by activating emergency blast doors,[10] Bitil used a walkie-talkie to inform someone else on the ship that "the idiots" had locked themselves in and that it was time to take action. At Bitil's signal, an unseen ally dropped two flash grenades through a hole in the ceiling of the bridge that stunned Starok and SMK long enough for Bitil to teleport in, grab them, and teleport them both to the brig.[11]

The Mazkertis Paradox[edit | edit source]

On Day 69 of The Mazkertis Paradox arc, Bitil and Barricade delivered Iris to the Kindred of Dawn on Kalta Thaea for use in Mazkertis's grand plan. Bitil and Barricade handed Iris to Genetoes, who pushed her towards a group of soldiers that rushed her away to her new prison.[12]

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Absorption: As a Makuta, Bitil could presumably absorb the mass of other biomechanical beings into his own body to increase his size and strength.[13]
  • Elemental Shadow Powers: As a Makuta, Bitil wielded the elemental power of Shadow. This enabled him to fire destructive blasts of shadow energy as a means of attack, as well as create shadow constructs such as Shadow Hands and cloak areas in darkness.[13]
  • Telepathy: As a Makuta, Bitil possessed telepathic abilities that enabled him to read, detect, communicate, and interact with non-shielded minds at a surface level.[13]
  • Kraata Creation: As a Makuta, Bitil could presumably create Kraata slugs of varying types, which could then be turned into Rahkshi through the use of Energized Protodermis.[13]
  • Kraata Powers: As a Makuta, Bitil presumably had access to the full range of Kraata powers, which would grant him the abilities of increased accuracy, instant environmental adaptation, anger induction, chain lightning, camouflage, confusion induction, cyclone creation, darkness creation, density control, matter disintegration, attack dodging, elasticity, electrical field creation, fear induction, increased resistance to fire and ice, gravity manipulation, eyebeam generation, energy draining, illusion casting, insect control, temporary invulnerability, magnetism manipulation, mind reading, molecular disruption, plantlife control, plasma generation, poison generation, power scream generation, rapid healing, Rahi control, shapeshifting, object shattering, sound dampening, sleep induction, slowness induction, sonic wave generation, stasis field generation, teleportation, vacuum creation, and weather control.[13]
