"Airwatcher" is a Dark Hunter who was killed by Kakamu.

History[edit | edit source]

In 100,079 CMT, Airwatcher was stationed as a guard on Odina when Kakamu arrived on the island in pursuit of Voporak. Airwatcher identified Kakamu as an intruder, so he fired a blast of acid at him that hit and dissolved Kakamu's weapon, the Kordaz Sabersword, within seconds.[1] Because Airwatcher's acid attacks were the most lethal that Kakamu had ever seen, he killed him in self-defence, using his magnetic powers to propel him off the island and in the general direction of Destral.[2] Kakamu then moved past Airwatcher's outpost and attempted to go further into Odina, but stopped when Blackout contacted Kakamu and told him to stop chasing Voporak, because Voporak had been hired to steal the Vahi on the behalf of the Brotherhood of Makuta.[3]

Because Airwatcher had been killed, he was unable to participate in the Battle of Xia.[4]

After his death, Airwatcher's body was automatically teleported to the Red Star so that he could be resurrected and returned to his duties in the Matoran Universe. However, due to the fact that the Red Star's return teleport mechanism had been damaged beyond repair (supposedly by Gaardus), the revived Airwatcher was left stranded aboard the station for thousands of years surrounded by increasingly hostile Kestora and Baterra.[5]

By 150,084 CMT, Airwatcher had taken up residence in a foundry along with many other Matoran Universe inhabitants after the Kestora began to harvest parts from them to repair failing components in the aging station. Airwatcher was guarding the entrance to Gaaki's war room when he saw Paluka and Perseus approach him with a cart containing Kakamu, who had been frozen in a Toa Seal. Recognizing Kakamu as the one responsible for his death and imprisonment on the station, Airwatcher began to attack the Toa Seal in a blind rage, prompting two Toa to try to pull him away. When Airwatcher retaliated by launching a web of energy from his chest that bound the Toa together, Perseus stepped in, forcing Airwatcher to stand down. Defeated, Airwatcher vowed revenge on Kakamu as he slunk away and returned to his post.[5]

Abilities & Powers[edit | edit source]

  • Acid Generation: Airwatcher could fire streams of incredibly potent acid from his staff which were capable of dissolving most forms of metal within seconds.
  • Energy Web Generation: Airwatcher's chest cavity holds launchers that can fire energy webs to bind targets.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Airwatcher is notable for being one of the four named characters that Kakamu has killed, with the others being Jerok, Tarnok, and his own Shattered Mirror Universe counterpart. This is not because Kakamu is above killing his enemies, but because he rarely kills anyone of significance.
